Athletics

Its athletic nickname is the "Jeeps", which is named after Eugene the Jeep, a character in the Popeye comic strip. Northeast Dubois High School participates in the Blue Chip Conference and the school is known for their athletics programs, which include in the past four years: 13 sectionals, five regionals, one semi-state, and one state appearance.

Eugene the Jeep is a character in the Popeye comic strip. A mysterious animal with magical or supernatural abilities, the Jeep first appeared in the Thimble Theatre comic strip. He was also present in animated versions of Popeye's adventures, including three of the Fleischer Studios shorts of the late 1930s/early 1940s, with more extensive appearances in later Popeye cartoons produced for TV.

Stephen John Brademas Jr. was an American politician and educator originally from Indiana. He served as Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives for the Democratic Party from 1977 to 1981 at the conclusion of a twenty-year career as a member of the United States House of Representatives. In addition to his major legislative accomplishments, including much federal legislation pertaining to schools, arts, and the humanities, he served as the 13th president of New York University from 1981 to 1992, and was a member of and subsequently the chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In addition he was a board member of the New York Stock Exchange and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Northeast Dubois County School Corporation is a school district in the northeast corner of Dubois County in southwestern Indiana. It consists of one high school, Northeast Dubois High School, one middle school, Dubois Middle School and two elementary schools with a total enrollment of 1,012 students. Its certified staff count is 58. The current superintendent is Bill Hochgesang.

The American Schools at War program was a program during World War II run by the U.S. Treasury Department, in which schoolchildren set goals to sell stamps and bonds to help the war effort. The program was also administered by the U.S. Office of Education, the Federal government agency that interfaced with the nation's school systems and its thirty-two million students. The Office, however, allowed the Treasury to work with the schools directly as the main objective of the program was raising money.
