Northeast Plaza is a 466,000-square-foot (43,300 m2) strip mall-style shopping center on Buford Highway in Brookhaven, Georgia just east of the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The center was built in late 1957 and renovated in 1986. In the mid-1980s it ranked as the 12th largest retail center in the Atlanta area. [1] [2]

In the mid-1980s the center was re-branded "Fashion Square" [3] but this was later dropped in favor of the original Northeast Plaza name.

In 2000, major tenants included a Publix supermarket, a 12-screen theater, China Cabinet and The Avenue. At that time, 145,000 square feet (13,500 m2) of the center's space was vacant, and new owners EIG Operating Partnership, who bought the center for $33 million, hoped to fill those vacancies with high-end antique stores and galleries. Publix Super Markets, Inc., commonly known as Publix, is an employee-owned, American supermarket chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins, Publix is a private corporation that is wholly owned by present and past employees and members of the Jenkins family. Publix operates throughout the Southeastern United States, with locations in Florida (799), Georgia (186), Alabama (71), South Carolina (59), Tennessee (45), North Carolina (42), and Virginia (13).

In 2012 the center was primarily occupied by discount and ethnic retailers. The largest single space, 56,000 sq. ft., once a J.C. Penney catalog store, then a Publix, was until 2011 the Mercado del Pueblo Hispanic supermarket. The vacant unit was to be acquired by G-Mart International Foods, a retailer aiming at the Korean-American and other ethnic markets. [5] As of January 2013, the store was operating under the "Mercado del Pueblo" branding. Other tenants include Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, dd's Discounts, a Goodwill Industries store, Funtime Bowl, Metro Pawn Shop, and Ryan's cafeteria. Numerous ethnic restaurants are located in the center including Bangladeshi, Ethiopian, Mexican and Peruvian, as are a bowling alley, St. Joseph's Mercy Clinic, and the Atlanta Ballroom nightclub. Grand Mart International Food is a Korean supermarket chain primarily located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, with locations in North Carolina and Georgia. It is owned by Annandale, Virginia-based Man Min Corporation, a family company. It was founded in 2002 by David Min Sik Kang, a Korean-American entrepreneur who originally owned small Korean grocery stores in Washington, D.C.

Its stores are supported by a nationwide logistics network of eleven distribution centers. The company operates one-dollar stores under the names of Dollar Tree and Dollar Bills. The company also operates a multi-price-point variety chain under Family Dollar.

Greengate Centre is an expansive open-air power center in Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 30. The center opened in 2005 on the site of the defunct Greengate Mall, which was demolished in 2003. Greengate Centre currently encompasses over 430,000 square feet (40,000 m2) of retail space, and more than 45 stores and restaurants. Anchor stores include Jo-Ann Fabrics, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, and Walmart. It also contains dozens of smaller retailers such as Five Below, GameStop, Lane Bryant, General Nutrition Centers, Oshkosh B'gosh, and Verizon Wireless. Eastern Shore Centre is a 540,000-square-foot (50,000 m2) lifestyle center located in Spanish Fort, a suburb of Mobile, Alabama, at the intersection of Malbis Parkway and Interstate 10. A landscaped perimeter road, Eastern Shore Boulevard, connects the lifestyle and power center components of this hybrid regional center. An apartment community, The Arlington at Eastern Shore Centre, was developed in the northeastern section of the complex. Eastern Shore Centre is Baldwin County's first large-scale, multi-anchored regional shopping center and the first lifestyle center to open in South Alabama.

Security Square Mall

Security Square Mall is a mall in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The mall features over 100 stores and restaurants, as well as a food court, with Burlington, Macy's, and Sears serving as anchor stores. One section of the mall, Seoul Plaza, previously included Korean shops and restaurants; however, most of these establishments had closed by 2010. Security Square Mall is located adjacent to the North American School of Trades.

Ashley Landing

Ashley Landing became the first indoor shopping mall in the West Ashley area of Charleston, South Carolina when the complex was fully completed in 1972. The center, located at 1401 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at the fork of Old Towne Road was developed by Gate City Realty Company of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ground was broken for the complex in 1962 with Ashley Plaza opening on April 16, 1964. At its opening the shopping center consisted of J.M. Fields Department Stores joined to a Pantry Pride supermarket, built at a cost of $1.75 million and owned by Sumar Corporation of South Carolina. The locally owned Condon's Department Store, constructed adjacent to Pantry Pride as a freestanding building, became the third tenant when it opened in 1970. The center, originally known as "Ashley Plaza" was noted for its large red and white neon pylon "Ashley Plaza" sign in the center of the parking lot that remained until 1989 when it was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo.

Butler Plaza

Butler Plaza is a large retail complex located in southwest Gainesville, Florida. It is the largest retail power center in Florida and among the largest in the southeast United States. Built on the former site of Stengel Airport, which closed in 1971, the shopping center currently consists of four major sections: East, Central, West, and North. Butler Town Center is currently under construction on the east side of the development.

The Plantation Towne Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in Plantation, Florida, which was destroyed by a fire on September 6, 1996. The shopping mall originally opened in 1968 as an open-air shopping plaza with a Publix Supermarket on its west end, and a Rite Aid Drug Store and movie theater on its east. In 1971, the center was enclosed by a metal roof, while original roofing was not removed. By 1991, the mall had undergone both interior and exterior renovations, converting the vacant theater space into offices, and cladding the exterior in stucco with mansard mall entryways.

Highlands Mall is a former shopping mall in Harrison Township, Pennsylvania that operates today as an open-air shopping center. It opened in 1977 and closed in 2006, reopening after its redevelopment in 2008.

Mercury Plaza Mall was a shopping mall located in Hampton, Virginia. The shopping mall opened in 1967 as Mercury Mall. The mall was the Virginia Peninsula's first indoor shopping complex. Montgomery Ward, Roses and Giant Open Air Supermarket served as the mall's primary anchors.

Plaza Fiesta

Plaza Fiesta is a 350,000 square feet (33,000 m2) strip mall in DeKalb County, Georgia on the eastern border of the city of Brookhaven, on Buford Highway and Clairmont Road. The mall contains a large supermarket, several large discount stores, and a large space filled with over 140 small vendors, modeled on a Mexican mercado or flea market. According to newspaper Creative Loafing, "to Atlanta's immigrant population, Plaza Fiesta has become as vital a shopping destination as Lenox Square or the Mall of Georgia."

East Hills Shopping Center was an outdoor shopping mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1960, the center lost most of its major stores in the late 1970s and underwent several failed attempts at renovation.

Ansley Mall

Ansley Mall is an open-air shopping mall in the Piedmont Heights neighborhood of Atlanta at 1544 Piedmont Avenue at the intersection of Monroe Drive near the Atlanta BeltLine trail.
