Uptown Funk 2014 song by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

"Uptown Funk" is a song by British record producer Mark Ronson featuring American singer and songwriter Bruno Mars, from Ronso's fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015). RCA Records released the song as the album's lead single on 10 November 2014. "Uptown Funk" was written by Ronson, Mars Jeff Bhasker and Philip Lawrence. The former three produced the song. Since the song samples two other songs, "Oops Up Side Your Head" (1979) and "All Gold Everything" (2012), songwriting credits were added for a total of eleven. It became a worldwide phenomenon with its major impact on pop culture.

Album-equivalent unit album

The album-equivalent unit is a measurement unit in music industry to define the consumption of music that equals the purchase of one album copy. This consumption includes streaming and song downloads in addition to traditional album sales. The album-equivalent unit was introduced in the mid-2010s as an answer to the drop of album sales in the 21st century. Album sales more than halved from 1999 to 2009, declining from a $14.6 to $6.3 billion industry. For instance, the only albums that went platinum in the United States in 2014 were the Frozen soundtrack and Taylor Swift's 1989, whereas several artists did in 2013.
