Nueva Era, officially the Municipality of Nueva Era (Ilocano : Ili ti Nueva Era; Filipino : Bayan ng Nueva Era), is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. It had a population of 11,968 based on the results of the 2020 census. [3]
Nueva Era is 63 kilometres (39 mi) from Laoag, 480 kilometres (300 mi) from Manila, and 64 kilometres (40 mi) from Bangued.
Nueva Era is politically subdivided into 11 barangays. [5] Each barangay consists of puroks and some have sitios.

Nueva Era is part of the second congressional district of the province of Ilocos Norte. It is governed by a mayor designated as its local chief executive and by a municipal council as its legislative body in accordance with the Local Government Code. The mayor, vice mayor, and the councilors are elected directly by the people through an election which is being held every three years.
