Nzema District is a former district council that was located in Western Region, Ghana. Originally created as an district council in 1975. However on 1988, it was split off into two new district assemblies: Jomoro District (capital: Half Assini) and Nzema East District (capital: Axim). The district council was located in the southern part of Western Region and had Half Assini as its capital town.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Jomoro District, which was created from the former Nzema District Council, until it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Jomoro Municipal District. The municipality is located in the southwest part of Western Region and has Half Assini as its capital town.

Half Assini Municipality Capital in Western Region, Ghana

Half Assini, also known as Awiane, is a small town and is the capital of Jomoro Municipality, a Municipality in the Western Region of Ghana. It is the hometown of Kwame Nkrumah's father and Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana had attended elementary school at Half Assini.
