The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
Aowin/Suaman District is a former district that was located in Western Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the former Aowin-Amenfi District Council. However on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Aowin Municipal District and Suaman District. The district assembly was located in the western part of Western Region and had Enchi as its capital town.
Wassa Amenfi West Municipal District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Wassa Amenfi District in 1988, which was created from the former Aowin-Amenfi District Council, until eastern part of the district was split off to create Wassa Amenfi East District on August 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Wassa Amenfi West District. Later, another part of the district was split off to create Wassa Amenfi Central District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Wassa Amenfi West District. However on 15 March 2018, it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Wassa Amenfi West Municipal District. The municipality is located in the northern part of Western Region and has Asankragua as its capital town.

The municipality is located in the northern part of Western Region and has Wassa-Akropong as its capital town.
Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Wassa West District in 1988, which was created from the former Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council, until the northern part of the district was split off to create Prestea-Huni Valley District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Tarkwa-Nsuaem District, which was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year to become Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District. The municipality is located in the eastern part of Western Region and has Tarkwa as its capital town.
Dormaa West District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Dormaa District on 10 March 1989; until the southwest part of the district was split off to create Dormaa West District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part was later elevated to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Dormaa Central Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Nkrankwanta as its capital town.
Awutu Senya East Municipal District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu Senya District on 29 February 2008, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Awutu Senya East District on 28 June 2012, which it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Awutu Senya East Municipal District; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Awutu Senya West District. The municipality is located in the southeast part of Central Region and has Kasoa as its capital town.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Kwaebibirem District in 1988, which was created from the former West Akim District Council. However on 6 February 2012, the southern part of the district was split off to create Denkyembour District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Kwaebibirem District, which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Kwaebibirem Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the southern part of Eastern Region and has Akwatia as its capital town.
North Gonja District is one of the seven districts in Savannah Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger West Gonja District on 23 December 1988, until the northern part of the district was split off on 28 June 2012 to create North Gonja District; thus the remaining part has been retained as West Gonja Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the central part of Savannah Region and has Daboya as its capital town.
Builsa South District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Builsa District in 1988, until the southern part of the district was split off to create Builsa South District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Builsa North District, which it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 19 December 2018 to become Builsa North Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the western part of Upper East Region and has Fumbisi as its capital town.
Nandom Municipal District is one of the eleven districts in Upper West Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Lawra/Nandom District in 1988; until the northern part of the district was later split off to create Nandom District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Lawra District. However on 27 January 2020, it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Nandom Municipal District. The municipality is located in the northwest part of Upper West Region and has Nandom as its capital town.
Juaboso District is one of the nine districts in Western North Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Juaboso-Bodi District on August 2004, which was created from the former Sefwi-Bibiani District Council, until the southeast part of the district was split off to create Bodi District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Juaboso District. The district assembly is located in the northwest part of Western North Region and has Juaboso as its capital town.
Mpohor District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Mpohor/Wassa East District in 1988, which was created from the former Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council, until the southwest part of the district was split off to create Mpohor District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Wassa East District. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga West District in 2004, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga North Municipal District on 15 March 2018, which was supported by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2314; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga West Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Ofankor as its capital town.
Kpone-Katamanso Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tema Municipal District, which was created from the former Tema District Council, until the eastern portion of the district was split off to create Kpone-Katamanso District on 28 June 2012, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2031; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tema Metropolitan District. However on 15 March 2018, it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Kpone-Katamanso Municipal District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2271. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Kpone as its capital town.
Ayawaso Central Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan District in 1988, until a small portion of the district was split off to create Ayawaso Central Municipal District on 9 February 2019; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Kokomlemle as its capital town.
