OFD Ostfriesischer Flugdienst GmbH (German for East Frisian Flight Service), usually shortened to OFD, is a German regional airline headquartered in Emden and based at Emden Airport. [2] It mainly operates charter and scheduled flights between the German North Sea coast and the East Frisian Islands, as well as to the island of Helgoland. [1]
The history of OFD reaches back to its predecessor, which was founded in November 1958 as Ostfriesische Lufttaxi - Dekker und Janssen OHG - or OLT for short - to offer ad-hoc charters and sightseeing flights in East Frisia. By 1961, the demand had increased heavily and by 1968, OLT was the largest German regional airline. [3] During the 1970s, as new investors were found, OLT expanded its services with scheduled flights between German cities such as Münster/Osnabrück-Frankfurt. [3]
From the late 1970s to the 1990s, the growing company has been reorganised several times to reflect their different fields of activity and new ownerships. [3] In September 2011, as the scheduled flights section of OLT was sold to Polish investors (and since went bankrupt), all island services were transferred into the independent company OFD which it is since. [3]

Condor, legally incorporated as Condor Flugdienst GmbH, is a German airline based in Neu Isenburg, Hesse. It was established in 1955 with Frankfurt Airport as its main base. Condor offers scheduled and charter flights and operates, from Germany, medium-haul flights to the Mediterranean Basin and the Canary Islands as well as long-haul flights to destinations in Africa, Asia, North America, South America and the Caribbean. Whereas medium-haul flights are operated from many German airports and Zurich, long-haul flights usually depart from Frankfurt, with a few charter services operated from Düsseldorf and Munich.
OLT Express Germany was an airline based in Bremen in Germany. The company moved to Bremen from Emden in February 2012. It operated regional scheduled and charter flights linking northern Germany to other parts of the country and Bremen to other European destinations. Its main base was Bremen Airport.

OLT Express Poland was a Polish charter airline, formally known as Yes Airways. On 31 July 2012 it suspended all charter services, less than a week after the scheduled sister airline OLT Express Regional cancelled all its services. Stranded customers were returned home on LOT services. All leased aircraft were repossessed by lessors, and even some wet lease pilots were released back to their employer airlines. Its sister airline, OLT Express Regional, filed for bankruptcy on 27 July 2012 after its licence was suspended by the Polish Aviation Authority.

In 2011, LFH was acquired by FLN Frisia Luftverkehr, which continues to use the brand.

Juist Airfield is an airfield on the island of Juist in Lower Saxony, Germany. The airport serves regular flights to Norden-Norddeich Airfield on the mainland. As of 2013, the airfield had up to 500 takeoffs and landings on weekends, the second most aircraft movements in the state of Lower Saxony, after Hannover Airport. The airfield is a critical piece of infrastructure for the island, due to ferry traffic being dependent on the tides.
