Luftverkehr Friesland-Harle, commonly abbreviated LFH, was [1] a small airline based in Wangerland, Germany, that was established in 1983 and had 30 employees (at March 2007). [2] It operated scheduled and chartered passenger and cargo flights, linking Harle Airfield (de) to the East Frisian Islands. [2] In 2011, LFH was acquired by FLN Frisia Luftverkehr, which continues to use the brand. [3]

Destinations

As of 2013, LFH operated scheduled services between its base at Harle and Wangerooge, on-demand flights to the other East Frisian Islands of Langeoog, Baltrum, Norderney, Juist and Borkum, as well as to Heligoland. [3] The airline was also occasionally contracted to operate flights in Estonia.

American Airlines Flight 102 was a regularly scheduled flight operated by a McDonnell Douglas DC-10 from Honolulu International Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. On 14 April 1993, upon landing, it was raining at Dallas-Ft Worth International Airport, and there were numerous thunderstorms in the area. Shortly after touchdown on runway 17L, the pilot lost directional control as the aircraft began to weathervane, and it departed the right side of the runway. All 202 occupants on board survived, with two passengers suffering serious injuries during the emergency evacuation. The aircraft was badly damaged and was written off.

Juist Airfield is an airfield on the island of Juist in Lower Saxony, Germany. The airport serves regular flights to Norden-Norddeich Airfield on the mainland. As of 2013, the airfield had up to 500 takeoffs and landings on weekends, the second most aircraft movements in the state of Lower Saxony, after Hannover Airport. The airfield is a critical piece of infrastructure for the island, due to ferry traffic being dependent on the tides.
