Oceans of Slumber is an American heavy metal band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2011. [7]

History

Their self-released debut album Aetherial was released in February 2013. [8] [9]

Lead vocalist Cammie Gilbert joined the band in 2014, after previous vocalist Ronnie Gates left. [10] Gilbert became the primary lyrics writer for the group after joining. [11]

In 2015, the band signed with Century Media Records. [12] In 2016, they toured with Ne Obliviscaris and Enslaved on a 34 date European tour. [13]

In March 2016, they released their second album, Winter, which received positive reviews from The Houston Press and Metal Injection. [14] [15]

On December 17, 2017, they released the lead single "The Decay of Disregard" off of their upcoming album The Banished Heart. [16] The second single was "The Banished Heart". The third single "No Color, No Light" in February 2018, featuring Tom S. Englund from Evergrey. [17] The album was released on March 3, 2018. [18] [19] The album was included on the list of "50 Best albums of 2018 So Far" by Metal Hammer. [20] The band has been called a "female fronted Opeth" by Noisey. [21] In 2018, the band toured with Insomnium. [22] In 2019, they joined Swallow the Sun as support for their European tour. [23]

It was re-issued and re-released in 2004 via Inside Out Music, and in 2017 via AFM Records. Recording sessions took place at Los Angered Recordings in Gothenburg from February to April 1999. Production was handled by Andy LaRocque and Evergrey themselves. It is the last album to feature original bassist Daniel Nojd and guitarist Dan Bronell.

The last track on the album, "When the Walls Go Down" samples excerpts from David Wilkerson's speech "A Call to Anguish".

Recording sessions took place at Los Angered Recordings in Gothenburg. Production was handled by members Tom S. Englund and Henrik Danhage. The album's lyrics deal mainly with personal reformation. It is the first album with longtime keyboardist Rikard Zander, and the last to feature original drummer Patrick Carlsson.

Starfall is the third album released by the power metal band Dragonland, and the first not to deal with "The Dragonland Chronicles". The music for Starfall was mainly written between June 2003 and May 2004 after arriving home from their 2003 Japan tour. The song, "To the End of the World", from this album, was performed during that tour, before it was even recorded. A demo version of "As Madness Took Me" can be found on YouTube.
