Octavius Terry (born November 7, 1972) is an American former hurdler. [1]

He graduated from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia in 1991. He then went to Georgia Tech where he was the 1994 NCAA Champion in the 400 hurdles. [2] The following year was his peak year, finishing third at the 1995 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, qualifying him for the 1995 World Championships in Athletics. He finished sixth in his semi-final race and did not advance to the final. That same year he was a representative at the World University Games where he picked up a silver medal. [3] Two years later, he returned to the University Games, failing in the hurdles but winning a gold medal leading off the American 4x400 metres relay. [4] [5]

Personal life

In 2019, Terry and his life partner Jamal Sims ended their marriage. [6] [7]

He was the fastest man in the world in the 1994 and 1996 seasons, and holds a personal record of 47.54 seconds. Adkins was a two-time national champion at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

David Oliver, is the Director of Track & Field at Howard University and a retired American hurdling athlete. As a professional athlete, he competed in the 110 meter hurdles event outdoor and the 60 meter hurdles event indoors. He is the former 110 meter hurdles champion winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Moscow in 2013 with a time of 13 seconds. He won the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympic Games and won another bronze at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

William "Will" Sharman is a British athlete who specialises in the 110 metres hurdles. He started his career as a junior high jumper and decathlete, but focused entirely on hurdling after a shoulder injury. He made his international debut for Great Britain at the 2006 European Athletics Championships and went on to compete at the 2007 Summer Universiade. Sharman came to prominence in 2009, after he significantly improved upon his previous personal best and finished fourth in the 110 metres hurdles final at the 2009 World Championships. This would be the first of three consecutive appearances in the World Championship final, he's since finished fifth in both the 2011 and 2013 finals.

She was the 2012 American champion in the indoor 60 metres hurdles and represented the United States at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships. She shares the world record for the shuttle hurdle relay, with her time of 50.78 seconds set in 2013.

Javier Arturo Mc Farlane Olazábal is a Peruvian track and field athlete who competes mainly in the 110 metres hurdles and long jump. He holds the Peruvian National Record for 110 metres hurdles with 13.52 seconds.

Dane Alex Bird-Smith is an Australian racewalking athlete. He competes in the 20 kilometres race walk, and has a best of 1:19:28 hours for the distance, set in 2017. He competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he was the bronze medallist. Bird-Smith represented Australia at the World Championships in Athletics three times, and has appeared four times at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships/Cup.

Rai Benjamin is an American hurdler and sprinter specializing in the 400 m and 400 m hurdles. He is the second fastest man in history in the 400 m hurdles with a personal best time of 46.17 s. He won a silver medal at his first Olympic Games in 2021 and won the 400 m hurdles race at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Benjamin also won silver medals and at the World Championships in 2019 and 2022 in the men's 400 m hurdles, and gold medals in the 4 × 400 m relay in 2019 and 2021.
