The Odisha State Electricity Regulatory Commission or OERC is a Public Sector Undertaking of Government of Odisha established under the Orissa Electricity Reform (OER) Act, 1995, as a part of the Reform Process in the State of Odisha. [1]
The commission is organised to work through divisions namely Secretariat, Law, Engineering, Tariff and Administration. [2]

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC) is an independent regulatory body with authority for the regulation of the electric power industry in Nigeria. NERC was formed in 2005 under the Obasanjo administration’s economic reform agenda through the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 for formation and review of electricity tariffs, transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of policies that are efficient and environmentally friendly, and also including forming and enforcing of standards in the creation and use of electricity in Nigeria. NERC was instituted primarily to regulate the tariff of Power Generating companies owned or controlled by the government, and any other generating company which has a licence for power generation and transmission of energy, and distribution of electricity.
TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) is responsible for medium voltage power transmission and distribution across 9 districts of Odisha. Originally, the licence to operate in the central region of state covering 9 districts was guaranteed in 1999, by Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission under the provision of Odisha Electricity Reform Act, 1995 to Central Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Ltd. However, the license was revoked in April 2005, and the management was shifted under Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha in September 2006. The company provides daily power requirement to the state load dispatch center which monitors and controls the grid operations.
Western Electricity Supply Company of Odisha or WESCO(Odia: ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଓଡିଶା ବିଦ୍ୟୁତ ଯୋଗାଣ କମ୍ପାନୀ) was incorporated as a Public Limited Company of Government of Odisha on 19 November 1997 to carry out the distribution and retail supply business of electricity in Western Odisha. Western Electricity Supply Company of Odisha got its Certificate of Commencement of Business on 30 December 1997 and started functioning as a subsidiary of Grid Corporation of Odisha, a Government of Odisha Power Utility, from 26 November 1998 under Distribution and Retail Supply License. Subsequently, the company obtained its own license for retail supply from Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission with effect from April 1999. After privatisation of distribution business under power sector reform process, WESCO became a subsidiary of TATA Power Ltd, with acquisition 51% majority share-holding. The authorised and paid up capital of the company is 48.65 crores The licensed area of operation of the company is 48,000 sq. km and covers nine revenue districts of Western Odisha namely, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Nuapada. The corporate office is in Burla.

Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) got the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 6 July 1995 and started functioning as a subsidiary of Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission, a Government of Odisha Power Utility. Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) does business of transmission and bulk supply of electricity and other related activities under an exclusive license issued by Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission.
