Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) is a public agency formed in 1956 by the Government of Odisha, under the administrative control of Housing and Urban Development Department assigned with task of providing water supply and sewerage facilities to the urban parts in the state of Odisha. [1]

It is situated about 328 kilometres (204 mi) west of state capital Bhubaneswar and is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by the rivers Koel, Sankha, & Brahmani. The city is also popularly known as Ispat Nagar and Steel City of Odisha as well. One of the largest integrated steel plant set up with German collaboration Known as Rourkela Steel Plant, of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). It also has one of the premier national level technical institute known as National Institutes of Technology (NIT Rourkela). Every year, on 3 March Rourkela Day has been celebrated.

Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) formerly College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar (CETB) is a public unitary technical university under the state government of Odisha located in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, India. It was established in 1981, by Government of Orissa, as a constituent college of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. Students are admitted to the college through the Joint Entrance Examination (main) merit list of Government of India. The Institute is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The Government of Odisha has granted unitary university status.

The Cuttack–Bhubaneswar–Puri Metro is a rapid transit system proposed for Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, and Puri, in Odisha, India. In the first phase, a 30 km (19 mi) metro trunk route will be created from Trisulia near Cuttack to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Plans are in place to eventually expand to Khordha and Puri.

The 2014 Odisha hepatitis outbreak was an outbreak of mainly Hepatitis E and also Hepatitis A which began in the town of Sambalpur in Odisha, India. The cause of the outbreak was suspected to be the contamination to drinking water supplied by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Purna Chandra Hota, was a former Indian bureaucrat, former Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (2002–2003). Prior to this, he was Member, Union Public service Commission Secretary, (1996–2002), Secretary, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (1995–96). He is married to Bijoylaxmi Hota, a Yoga expert and author of several books on Yogic therapy. He has three children, Reema Hota Singh, an Indian revenue Service Officer, Prasenjeet Hota, and Reela Hota, an odissi dancer. In 2019, Hota wrote a book on law titled ' Nuggets of Wisdom- Some path breaking judgements of the Supreme Court, published by Atlantic.

Pratap Jena is an Indian politician and the Former Cabinet Minister in the Sixteenth Odisha Legislative Assembly with Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Law, Housing & Urban Development portfolios (2019–2022). He is elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly for the fifth consecutive time from Mahanga constituency of Kendrapara. He is also the General secretary of the farmers wing of Biju Janata Dal, Biju Krushak Janata Dal. Earlier, he had served as the Minister of School and Mass Education during his third term (2009–2012) and as the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Law and Information & Public Relations in his fourth term (2017–2019) in the assembly.

Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is a universal health coverage scheme launched by Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. The scheme covers around 70 lakhs families. A budget of 250 crore was sanctioned by the state government. Cashless healthcare assistance will be provided. Services:

  1. Free health services for all in all state government health care facilities starting from Sub center level up to district headquarter hospital level with Swasthya Mitras deployed at help desk.
  2. Annual health coverage of Rs 5 lakhs per family and 7 lakhs per women members of the family.
<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ashwini Vaishnaw</span> Indian politician and civil servant

Ashwini Vaishnaw is an Indian politician and former IAS officer who is currently serving as the 39th Minister of Railways, 55th Communications and 2nd Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India since 2021 and a member of the Rajya Sabha representing Odisha since 2019. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Earlier in 1994, Vaishnaw joined the Indian Administrative Service in the Odisha cadre, and has worked extensively in Odisha.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed in the Indian state of Odisha on 16 March 2020. The state has confirmed 10,00,084 cases, including 9,497 active cases, 9,83,245 recoveries, and 7,289 deaths as of 21 August 2021.
