Okorukambe Constituency, until 2013 Steinhausen Constituency, [1] is an electoral constituency in the Omaheke Region of Namibia. It has 9,066 inhabitants, [2] its district capital is the settlement of Steinhausen, it further contains the settlements of Witvlei and Omitara. [3]

There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency is Walvis Bay Urban; the least populous is Walvis Bay Rural, both in the Erongo region.

Omaheke Region Region in Namibia

Omaheke is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, its capital is Gobabis. It lies on the eastern border of Namibia and is the Western extension of the Kalahari desert. The name Omaheke is the Herero word for Sandveld.

Politics

SWAPO politician and Deputy Minister of Works and Transport Kilus Nguvauva was the councillor of this constituency from the 1998 regional election [4] until 2015. The 2015 regional election was likewise won by a SWAPO candidate. Raphael Mokaleng gained 1,898 votes, followed by Emgardt Kandovazu of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) with 352 votes and Eskaline Ganes of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) with 164 votes. Lukas Mbangu of the All People's Party also ran and got 45 votes. [5]

SWAPO political party

The South-West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO),, and officially known as SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. It has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group.

Khorixas Place in Kunene Region, Namibia

Khorixas is a town of 6,000 inhabitants in southern Kunene Region, Namibia. It was the capital of the Damaraland bantustan before Namibia's independence. It is the administrative capital of Khorixas Constituency. Most of the inhabitants are from the Damara ethnic group. The town is located near to an important deposit of petrified wood and the Twyfelfontein valley, known for its rock art.

Sesfontein Constituency is an electoral constituency of Namibia. Located in Kunene Region, it has a population of 7,358. Its district capital is the settlement of Sesfontein. It is bordered by Khorixas Constituency to the south, Kamanjab Constituency to the east, Opuwo Rural to the north and Okahao Constituency in Omusati Region to the northeast.

Mpungu Constituency

Mpungu is a constituency in the Kavango West region of Namibia. Its population is 18,332. Nkurenkuru, the capital of Kavango West, is situated in this constituency. The Mpungu settlement is also located here.

Aminuis Constituency

Aminuis Constituency is a electoral constituency in the Omaheke Region of Namibia. It has 12,343 inhabitants, its district capital is the settlement of Aminuis. The constituency forms part of the border between Namibia and Botswana.

Epukiro Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Omaheke Region of Namibia. Its district capital is the settlement of Epukiro, it further contains the settlements of Otjinoko, Otjijarua, Omauezonjanda, and Otjimanangombe. The royal homestead of the Ovambanderu people is situated in this constituency in the settlement of Ezorongondo.

Otjombinde Constituency

Otjombinde Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Omaheke Region of Namibia. It had 6,378 inhabitants in 2004. The district capital of the constituency is the settlement of Otjombinde, its main economic hub is Talismanus. The constituency forms part of the border between Namibia and Botswana, it contains the settlements of Eiseb, Helena, and Rietfontein.

Uuvudhiya Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshana Region of Namibia. It has 4,357 inhabitants, its district capital is the settlement of Uuvudhiya. The constituency had 2,869 registered voters as of 2004.

Tsumkwe Constituency

Tsumkwe Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. It has 8,823 inhabitants and consists of the settlement of Tsumkwe and the surrounding rural area.

Opuwo Rural

The constituency was created in August 2013 from the western part of Linyanti Constituency, following a recommendation of the Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia, and in preparation of the 2014 general election. Tondoro Constituency is named after the village and mission station Tondoro, although the administrative centre is in the village of Mburuuru.
