On Site Opera (OSO) is a professional opera company based in New York City that specializes in site-specific productions. The company was founded in 2012 by General and Artistic Director Eric Einhorn [1] and Executive Director/Producer Jessica Kiger. [2] On Site Opera, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is member of Opera America and the New York Opera Alliance. [3] After Einhorn stepped down, in 2023, the company appointed Piper Gunnarson as its next General Director & CEO and Sarah Meyers as Artistic Director. [4]

In addition to site-specific productions, On Site Opera produces operas specifically for children, including a production of Shostakovich's The Tale of the Silly Baby Mouse, Op. 56, at the Bronx Zoo in 2012. [5]

In 2014, On Site Opera was the first opera company to use Google Glass to display subtitles. Figaro Systems [6] created the software in which the translation of Rameau's Pigmalion was sent to Google Glass, allowing the audience to experience opera and translation in their field of vision at the same time. [7]

Gotham Chamber Opera was a professional opera company located in New York City. The company was founded in 2000 under the name of the Henry Street Chamber Opera by Artistic Director Neal Goren and specialized in producing rarely performed chamber operas from the Baroque era to the present. In 2003, it changed its name to the Gotham Chamber Opera (GCO) after incorporating as an independent 501(c)(3) organization. Its Executive Director was Edward Barnes, who took over from David Bennett. It closed in 2015.

<i>The Tale of the Priest and of His Workman Balda</i> (film)

The Tale of the Priest and of His Workman Balda is a partially lost Soviet animated feature film directed by the husband-and-wife team Mikhail Tsekhanovsky and Vera Tsekhanovskaya and based on the 1830 eponymous fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin. The score was composed by Dmitri Shostakovich. The only surviving scene is called Bazaar (Marketplace). The rest of the film reels were lost in the bombing of the Lenfilm studio during the 1941 Siege of Leningrad.

Scott Joiner is an American operatic tenor, composer, teacher and conductor. He created the role of Dickon in the world premiere of Nolan Gasser's opera The Secret Garden with the San Francisco Opera and Cal Performances in 2013. Among the five one-act operas he has written, The Shower was presented at the Wiener Kammeroper in 2019, and Death of a Grailsman received a YouTube premiere in 2021. He composed the score and starred in the short opera film, Connection Lost or L'opera di Tinder, which won Best Score at Ireland's Kerry Film Festival. The miniature one-act opera received its live stage premiere by Opera Carolina in November 2016 as part of National Opera Week. Joiner and Tinder Opera Co-creator, Adam Taylor (writer/director) were featured on NPR’s All Things Considered in 2017.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Tsekhanovsky was a Russian and Soviet artist, animation director, book illustrator, screenwriter, sculptor and educator. He was one of the founders and unchallenged leaders of the Leningrad school of Soviet animation. Meritorious Artist of the RSFSR (1964).

Stephen Langridge is a British stage and opera director. From 2012-2019 he was Director of the Gothenburg Opera. He is the current Artistic Director of the Glyndebourne Festival. He has also staged works for several prominent opera houses and festivals internationally, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Nederlandse Reisopera, the Salzburg Festival, and the Staatsoper Hannover among others.
