Oruj (Persian : اروج‎, also Romanized as Orūj; also known as Oruch, Orudzh, Owrūj, Ūroj, and Ūrūj)^[1] is a village in Nowjeh Mehr Rural District, Siah Rud District, Jolfa County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 131, in 32 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is a pluricentric language primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Nowjeh Mehr Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in Siah Rud District, Jolfa County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 3,716, in 867 families. The rural district has 23 villages.

Siah Rud District is a district (bakhsh) in Jolfa County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 8,507, in 2m086 families. The District has one city: Siah Rud. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Dizmar-e Gharbi Rural District and Nowjeh Mehr Rural District.
