Oscar Lloyd (born 16 September 1997) [1] [2] is a British actor best known for his role as Will Wylde in Emmerdale .

Career

Lloyd started his acting career by appearing in television commercials. [3] He was cast as David in the 2008 BBC drama, Hancock and Joan . [4] In November 2008, a reporter for the Eastbourne Herald announced Lloyd had been cast in a Disney Channel production called Oscar and Michael's Phineas and Ferb Fan Club Show alongside Michael Selwood. [1] The show "pays homage" to the animated comedy series Phineas and Ferb and sees Lloyd and Selwood solve everyday problems. [1] Oscar and Michael's Phineas and Ferb Fan Club Show began airing from 3 November 2008. [1] It was later renewed for a second series, which began airing on 10 April 2009. [3]

On 19 January 2009, Kris Green of Digital Spy reported Lloyd had been cast as Will Wylde in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale . [5] Lloyd also appeared in season two of Lark Rise to Candleford as Sydney, the studious, ten-year-old son of James Dowland. [6] For his portrayal of Will, Lloyd received a nomination for Best Young Actor at the 2010 Inside Soap Awards. [7] In August 2010, it was announced Lloyd would be departing Emmerdale. The actor made the decision to leave on his own accord. [8]

2011 saw Lloyd feature in "The Curse of the Black Spot", the third episode of the sixth series of Doctor Who . Lloyd played the role of Toby, the son of a pirate captain played by Hugh Bonneville. [9] Lloyd later featured as Toby in the seventh episode, "A Good Man Goes to War". [10] From January 2012, Lloyd began playing Ryan in children's television series 4 O'Clock Club . [11] The actor appeared as Gabriel in the BBC drama, One Night, which began airing in March 2012. [12] From April 2012, Lloyd began filming a role for the BBC drama, Blandings . [13]

In 2023, Lloyd was confirmed to be playing Jim Hopper in the Stranger Things prequel stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow . The play will premiere on November 17, 2023 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. [14]

Emmerdale is a British television soap opera that is broadcast on ITV. The show is set in Emmerdale, a fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales. Created by Kevin Laffan, Emmerdale Farm was first broadcast on 16 October 1972. Interior scenes have been filmed at the Leeds Studios since its inception. McGeever had health problems, but, in June 2013, producer Kate Oates stated there had been plans for her to return. McGeever died in August 2015, however, without having returned to the series.

Howard Bellamy is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera Doctors, portrayed by Ian Kelsey. Howard first appeared on 28 May 2012, where he is introduced as the practice manager of the fictional Mill Health Centre. Kelsey was cast in the soap following the departure of Julia Parsons, the practice manager prior to Howard. He is an ex-army captain, and producers deliberately made his personality different to Julia's. Howard was based on a real person since producers had heard of a situation where somebody quit the army to become the practice manager of a doctor's surgery. Kelsey spoke to a real-life practice manager to aid his accuracy in the role.

Kate Oates is a British television producer, who was born in Nottingham and graduated from Warwick University. She began her career working as a researcher and editorial assistant for Germaine Greer, before becoming a script editor for the soap opera Crossroads. In 2003, she joined the radio soap The Archers as a producer, a position which Oates credits as the majority of her training. After resigning from this job, Oates began working on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale as a script editor, during which time she assisted with the soap's fortieth anniversary celebrations and worked on British Soap Award-winning storylines. She remained in the position until 2012 when she joined Coronation Street as the assistant producer.
