Oulu Music Video Festival was founded in 1994 by students of the Oulu School of Arts and Crafts. [3] The festival's back bone is the Finnish Music Video Contest. The best Finnish music video is awarded with The Golden Pumpeli Award and the most promising young director is awarded with the Teen Pumpeli Award. [2]

The best Post-Production and cinematography received their own category in 2015 and have been awarded the Lens Pumpeli Award and the Post Pumpeli Award ever since. The Finnish Music Foundation (MES) gives out an annual award at the festival to a person who has furthered the art of music videos. Music videos are screened at the Cultural Centre Valve. [4]

The world famous Air Guitar World Championships were first held in 1996 as part of the Oulu Music Video Festival. [1]

Come Inside is a Finnish glam rock, brit pop and indie rock band founded in 1996 at the Alppila Senior High in Helsinki, Finland. Though Sippola writes the band's lyrics in fluent English, the band remains mostly unknown outside of Finland, where they had several top-20 records.

<i>Salatut elämät</i>

Salatut elämät is a Finnish television soap opera that premiered on MTV3 on 25 January 1999. The series' storylines follow the daily lives of several families who live in the same apartment block in Helsinki. The series primarily centres on the residents of Pihlajakatu and its neighbouring areas. Only six of the original twenty characters Ismo, Kalle, Ulla, Aki, Kari and Elina still remain in the series, and most of the series' current characters have made their debuts in 2014 or later. Ismo is the only character who has never left the series.

Radiopuhelimet

Radiopuhelimet is a Finnish alternative rock band formed in Oulu in 1986. Their style, though varied through the years, could be described as a combination of hardcore punk, noise rock and progressive rock. Besides from performing as a band in a regular sense, they are also known for having contributed in theatre from time to time.

<i>Country Falls</i> 2004 studio album by Husky Rescue

Country Falls is the debut album by the Finnish ambient pop band Husky Rescue. It was released on Catskills Records in October 2004 and re-released with a DVD in April 2005. The music by Finnish multi-instrumentalist Marko Nyberg and his band is country-influenced folk-pop with organic instrumentation and sparse samples, and features the vocals of Reeta-Leena Vestman.

<i>Seili</i> (album) 2010 studio album by Jenni Vartiainen

Seili is the second studio album by Finnish pop singer Jenni Vartiainen. It was released by Warner Music Finland digitally on 31 March 2010, with the official physical release following on 14 April. From 31 March to the official physical release date, the album was sold at €19 in conjunction with Ilta-Sanomat. The album was re-released on 14 January 2011, in a limited vinyl edition. The Finnish-language album, incorporating electro and synthpop elements along with melancholic piano ballads, is named after the island Seili, located off the south-west coast of Finland. The album was produced and co-written by Jukka Immonen with Vartiainen writing also two of the songs. The main lyricists were Teemu Brunila and Mariska who contributed to the thematical dualism of the album—Brunila wrote the happier songs about publicity and finding love while Mariska wrote the lyrics for the songs that deal with darker and more serious themes, such as death. Another lyricist was Paula Vesala. Vartiainen participated more in the production than with her debut album Ihmisten edessä, by playing for example piano and kantele.

<i>Ship of Light</i> 2010 studio album by Husky Rescue

Ship of Light is the third album by the Finnish ambient pop band Husky Rescue. It was first released by Catskills Records in January 2010. A special edition of the album was released in April 2011 with a box set designed by Kustaa Saksi including five new bonus tracks and a DVD of live footage and music videos. Three songs were mixed in Sweden with Niklas Flyckt, whose previous work include Britney Spears’ song Toxic. The music video for the single They are Coming directed by Pete Riski won a Muuvi Award in 2009 by IFPI Finland, and director Antony Bentley received an honorary mention for the music video of Fast Lane at Oulu Music Video Festival in 2011.

He is best known as a "rock photographer", having had a long working relationship with bands such as HIM, Nightwish and Apocalyptica. Uuden edessä is a song by Finnish group Toivon Kärki, released on 10 April 2020 through Warner Music Finland. The proceeds of the song were directed to Finnish Red Cross to help people in Finland who have been affected by COVID-19 pandemic. The song was written by Lauri Tähkä and Timo Kiiskinen and produced by Jukka Immonen, Jurek, Antti Riihimäki and Eppu Kosonen.

Blind Channel Finnish post-hardcore band

Blind Channel is a post-hardcore band from Oulu, Finland. The band define their musical style as "violent pop". They represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Dark Side", finishing in sixth place.
