Our Homecoming (also referred to as Homecoming or Homecoming Festival), [1] is an annual three-days music, fashion, sport, and arts festival in Lagos, Nigeria. It has been founded by Grace Ladoja, as a community under Metallic Inc. The platform was established for cultural exchange, sharing African creativity with the world as a way of connecting international creatives from Africa in the diaspora back to the motherland (Nigeria "Africa"). The festival provides a venue for workshops, football pitch, art museum, live bands, DJs, and musicians.

The festival is yearly supported by The NATIVE, Vivendii, Off-White, Browns, Patta, Ambush, Stüssy, and Nike. [2] [3] [4] In 2019, UBA Group partnered with Homecoming to celebrate its Easter Festival in Lagos. [5] [6] The Homecoming matches kicks-off annually at Astro2000 Ikoyi, and the Cup was won by The Native team in 2018 and 2019, [7] and International Girl Crew team won the 2020 cup.

History

The Homecoming Festival is produced by Metallic Inc., and founded by Grace Ladoja. It was created to celebrate cultural heritage and creative excellence through the lens of music, fashion, art, and sport. The festival has been instrumental in giving back to the community, and has created opportunities for young people in various different creative industries to showcase their talent to the world.

On 1 October 2018, Julie Adenuga, launched a new docu series, Julie In Lagos, to document the event on Beats 1. The docu series features guest appearances from Wizkid, Skepta, Tiwa Savage, J Hus, Not3s, Odunsi (The Engine), Cruel Santino, and Wavy the Creator, with various brands, such as Vivendii, Off-White, Mains London, and Orange Culture. [8] The third edition of the festival was hosted online in Nigeria and streamed in various countries within Africa and Europe, due to the pandemic without live audience. In August 2020, the panels unveiled its partners for the Homecoming Digital Festival with Browns, Mowalola, Casablanca, Off-White, Orange Culture, Patta, Vivendii, Post-Imperial, and Motherlan. 2018: First edition

The first edition featured guess performance from Tiwa Savage, Nasty C, Skepta, Wizkid, Naomi Campbell, John Boyega, Jimmy Ayeni, Lady Donli, Teezee, Cruel Santino, Not3s, Mowalola, DJ Obi, Olamide, Taribo West, Daniel Amokachi, Davido , Ozwald Boateng, Greatness Dex, J Hus, Odunsi (The Engine), Lancey Foux, BBK and Imaan Hammam. 2019: Second edition

The second edition featured guess performance from La Meme Gang, Fireboy DML, Moonchild Sanelly, Sho Madjozi, Naira Marley, Niniola, Rema, Tems, Simi, Prettyboy D-O, Cruel Santino, Odunsi (The Engine), Runtown, DRB LasGidi, Ajebutter22, Skepta, Poco Lee, Octavian, Teni, Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, J Hus, Nasty C, Not3s, BOJ, and Terri. 2020: Third edition

The third edition featured guess performance from DJ Obi, Fireboy DML, Sho Madjozi, Naira Marley, Niniola, Rema, Tems, Simi, Prettyboy D-O, Cruel Santino, Odunsi (The Engine), Runtown, DRB LasGidi, Skepta, Poco Lee, Teni, Wizkid, Vivendii Boys, and Terri. On September 2, 2020, a furniture designer, Yinka Ilori exhibited his collection of I Got Chairs For Days, at the Browns East store in Shoreditch, London. [17] The collection is a set of coloured chairs, as a reflection of his heritage, he tell's Lotte Brouwer of Livingetc.

Tiwatope SavageListen, known professionally as Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. Don Jazzy, Flavour N'abania and Wizkid all got four nominations each, while Olamide, Patoranking, Chidinma and Oritse Femi followed closely with three nominations.

The Gidi Culture Festival is an annual one-day music and arts festival that takes place in Lagos, Nigeria. Co-founded by Chinedu Okeke and Oriteme Banigo, it was created in response to a demand from the local youth culture for live, affordable, and accessible entertainment in Africa. The festival provides a venue for live bands, DJs, and musical acts to perform. It also features outdoor activities, local vendors, and artisans. The main show features a line-up of African acts from numerous countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Congo, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. The goal of the festival is to encourage the development of African talent and promote artists both within the continent and into overseas markets.

Morihanfen Oluwaseun Oluwabamidele, known by his stage name as Sean Tizzle, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was formally signed to Sound Sultan's Naija Ninjas.

"Eminado" is a song by Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage. It features vocals from Don Jazzy and was released as the seventh single from her debut studio album Once Upon a Time (2013). The song peaked at number 2 on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 chart from March 7 through March 13, 2014. Vanguard newspaper ranked it 10th on its list of the top ten hit songs that made 2013. "Eminando" received generally positive reviews from music critics and consumers. On the contrary, the music video was criticized for bearing close resemblance to Tumi and the Volume's "Asinamali" video.

Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, professionally known as Spinall, is a Nigerian disc jockey, record producer, songwriter, label executive, and media personality. He first gained prominence in 2004, while working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. He later joined Industry Nite where he promoted underground talents at the weekly platform. He was the official DJ to Wande Coal while he was affiliated with Mavin Records. He created a style edge to his outfit known as TheCAP, tracing his roots back to his culture. TheCAP, which fans tags as "TheCrazyAzzParty" has since then been his brand power and identity. Prior to April 2021, he went by the stage name DJ Spinall, and started an Afromix series on Apple Music, on 15 April 2021. and hosted a television show, known as Smirnoff Infamous Mix on MTV Base, Soundcity TV with a podcast series launched on Audiomack and various radio stations in Nigeria. The 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was the 10th edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Wizkid won the most awards while Olamide received the most nominations with three across 39 award categories. Kiss Daniel won the Best New Act to Watch award while Praiz won the Best R&B Act award after he toppled the likes of Banky W, Chidinma, Seyi Shay, Timi Dakolo and Shaydee. The award was held at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York City, U.S.A and was hosted by Osas Ighodaro and Ice Prince.

The Soundcity MVP Awards Festival is an event presented by Soundcity TV which awards plaques to musicians and performers across Africa. Since 2007, the winners are chosen by the viewers and fans by visiting #TheMVPs' website and a select committee of the industry stakeholder. The first MVPs ceremony was held in December 2016 in Lagos, Nigeria.
