Meenachil is the north-eastern region of Kottayam district in Kerala,south India. The name originates from Meenakshi,the Hindu Goddess. Pala is the main city in Meenachil. The arterial river of the district is also named Meenachil.

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church,is an Eastern Catholic Church based in Kerala,India. It is sui iuris (autonomous) particular Church in full communion with the Pope and the worldwide Catholic Church,including the Latin Church and the 22 other Eastern Catholic Churches,with self-governance under the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches (CCEO). The Church is headed by the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar,currently George Alencherry. The Syro-Malabar Synod of Bishops canonically convoked and presided over by the Major Archbishop constitutes the supreme authority of the Church. The Major Archiepiscopal Curia of the Church is based in Kakkanad,Kochi. Syro-Malabar is a prefix reflecting the church's use of the East Syriac Rite liturgy and origins in Malabar. Alappat Sreedhara Menon,known as A. Sreedhara Menon,was an Indian historian from Kerala. He is best known as the State Editor (1958–68) of Kerala District Gazetteers (1961–1975). He served as registrar of the Kerala University from 1968 to 1977,before retiring in 1980.

St. Thomas College,Pala is a government aided college of higher education located in Pala town,Kerala,India. It was founded on 7 August 1950 by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Palai. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam and was re-accredited with A++ grade by NAAC in February 2021. The college is recognized under the sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act 1956. The Government of Kerala has recognized the college as a Special Grade College.

Further,he was elected as an Indian Member of Parliament representing the Indian National Congress party in the 1st Lok Sabha and the 2nd Lok Sabha from 1953 till 1962 for the erst-while constituency of Muvattupuzha which consisted of the whole of Idukki,parts of Kottayam,Pathanamthitta and Chalakudy. He was also India's representative to the United Nations in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's Delegation in 1958.
The Evangelistic Association of the East is a registered Non-governmental organization headquartered at Perumbavoor,Kerala working in the Educational,Social Service and Spirituality sectors. The organization has Educational Institutions,Orphanages and an Arch Diocese affiliated with Syriac Orthodox Church across South India. It was founded as the first missionary association of Syriac Orthodox Church in 1924 by 'Malphono Nasiho' Geevarghese Cor-Episcopa Athunkal(1902-1997) and later registered in 1949 under Indian Societies Registration Act.
