Ponnuraj Karthe is an Indian structural biologist and a professor and the head of the Department of Crystallography and Biophysics of the University of Madras. [2] He is known for his research in the fields of structural biology and drug designing. [3] His studies have been documented by way of a number of articles [4] [note 1] and Google Scholar, an online repository of scientific articles has listed 46 of them. [5] Besides, he has contributed chapters to books edited by others [6] and has delivered invited speeches at many seminars [7] which include the Workshop on Advances in Computer Aided Drug Design held in August 2010 at the University of Madras. [8] He was a member of the national organizing committee of the Annual Conference of Indian Biophysical Society - Molecular Architecture, Dynamics and Assem, organized by Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics [9] and serves as a member of the national committee of the International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB) [10] as well as the executive council of the Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery Society (BIDDS), a non governmental organization promoting dissemination of knowledge in the fields of bioinformatics, biological sciences and other life sciences. [11] The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences, in 2010. Gopalasamudram Narayanan Ramachandran, or G.N. Ramachandran, FRS was an Indian physicist who was known for his work that led to his creation of the Ramachandran plot for understanding peptide structure. Dinakar Masanu Salunke is an immunologist and structural biologist Presently, he is the Director of International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) New Delhi. Earlier he was the Executive Director of newly established Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), an institution jointly set up by Department of Biotechnology (India) and UNESCO at Faridabad. He is the recipient of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in the category of biological sciences and Fellow of all major science academies in India.

Umesh Varshney is an Indian molecular biologist, academician and the head of a laboratory at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He is a J. C. Bose National Fellow of the Department of Science and Technology and is known for his studies on protein synthesis and DNA repair in Escherichia coli and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. An elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences (India), he is also a recipient of the National Bioscience Award for Career Development of the Government of India. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 2001, and then in 2014 with the G. Narayanaswamy Srinivasan was an Indian molecular biophysicist and a professor and the head of Proteins: Structure, Function and Evolutionary Group at the Molecular Biophysics Unit of the Indian Institute of Science. He is known for his researches in the fields of computational genomics and protein structure analysis. An elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India, he is a J. C. Bose National fellow of the Department of Biotechnology and a recipient of the National Bioscience Award for Career Development of the Department of Science and Technology. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 2007, for his contributions to biological sciences.

Balasubramanian Gopal is an Indian structural biologist, molecular biophysicist and a professor at the Molecular Biophysics Unit of the Indian Institute of Science. He is known for his studies on cell wall synthesis in Staphylococcus aureus and is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Academy of Sciences. He received the National Bioscience Award for Career Development of the Department of Biotechnology in 2010. Madhu Dikshit is an Indian cardiovascular biologist, pharmacologist, who served as (2015–2017) director of the Central Drug Research Institute of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Known for her studies on cardiovascular pathologies such as thrombosis, she is also an adjunct professor at Carleton University. Her studies have been documented by way of a number of articles and ResearchGate, an online repository of scientific articles has listed 204 of them. All the three major Indian science academies namely Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India and Indian National Science Academy have elected her as their fellow and she is also a recipient of the Young Scientists Medal (1989) as well as the Professor K. Arun Kumar Shukla is an Indian structural biologist and the Joy-Gill Chair professor at the department of biological sciences and bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Known for his studies on G protein-coupled receptor, Shukla is a Wellcome Trust-DBT Intermediate Fellow and a recipient of the SwarnaJayanti Fellowship of the Department of Science and Technology. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences, in 2017/18. He received the 2021 Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Biological Science. He was awarded the Infosys Prize 2023 in Life Sciences his outstanding contributions to the biology of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs).

Suresh Kumar Rayala is an Indian cancer biologist and a professor at the department of biotechnology of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Known for his molecular and mechanistic studies of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, Rayala is a recipient of the Young Scientist Award of the Academy of Sciences, Chennai. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences, in 2017–18.

Namasivayam Gautham is a retired Professor Emeritus at the Centre of Advance Study in Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras. He is known for his work on DNA Crystallography, protein structure prediction and molecular docking.
