Alipurduar district is covered by two maps. It is an extensive area in the eastern end of the Dooars in West Bengal. According to the 2011 Census of India, Pachkalguri had a total population of 3,257 of which 1,632 (50%) were males and 1,625 (50%) were females. There were 348 persons in the age range of 0 to 6 years. The total number of literate people in Pachkalguri was 2,206 (75.83% of the population over 6 years). [5]
Pijushkanti Mukherjee Mahavidyalaya was established at Sonapur in 2015. Affiliated with the University of North Bengal, it offers courses in arts. [6]
