Padang Ganting is a district (kecamatan) of Tanah Datar Regency, in the West Sumatra province of Indonesia.

It is subdivided into two nagari (villages): Padang Ganting and Atar. [1]

Cianjur Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java, Indonesia. Padang Island is an island in Riau province, Indonesia, close to the east coast of Sumatra island. South Tapanuli is a regency in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Its seat is the town of Sipirok. This regency was originally very large and contained thousands of towns and villages, including the city of Padang Sidempuan. The areas that have separated from South Tapanuli Regency are the new regencies of Mandailing Natal, Padang Lawas Utara and Padang Lawas, all lying to the south-east of the residual South Tapanuli Regency, plus the city (kota) of Padang Sidempuan. After the division, the regency seat moved to from Padang Sidempuan to Sipirok.

Bagindo Azizchan, was an Indonesian independence fighter and second Mayor of Padang after independence, inaugurated on August 15, 1946, replacing Abubakar Jaar. He died at the age of 36 after being involved in a battle against Dutch forces. His body was buried at the Bahagia Heroes Cemetery, Bukittinggi. On November 9, 2005, Bagindo Azizchan was declared a National Hero of Indonesia.
