Padmamagan is an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. After making his debut in 2003 with Pallavan, he has gone on to make other ventures including Ammuvagiya Naan and Netru Indru .
Padmamagan associated with producer Rufus Parker and the duo chose to make a commercial film to begin their film careers; Pallavan (2003) released with little publicity and did not perform well at the box office. With Parker, he then began work on Ammuvagiya Naan (2007), which told the story of a commercial sex worker transforming herself into a housewife. Starring Parthiban and Bharathi, the film opened to positive reviews with a critic noting "writer-director Padma Magan has come out with a movie that augers well for the future of Tamil Cinema". [1] The film was later screened at the 2007 International Film Festival of India in Goa, becoming the first Tamil venture since Nayakan (1987) to achieve such a feat. [2] Despite the success of the film, Padmamagan failed to get producers for his next planned project, that revolving around the life of a seven-year-old child. He revealed that such failure to attract investors, made him give up a career in cinema and turned him into an alcoholic. [3]
In 2012, he began work on his third film Netru Indru , a multi-starrer featuring Vimal, Prasanna and Richard amongst other actors. He produced the venture himself, alongside his wife Malathy, and revealed that it would be a socially relevant movie. The film had a low-key release in 2014 after several delays. Prashanth Thiagarajan, known professionally as Prashanth, is an Indian actor and businessman, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late 1990s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. He has won a Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The son of actor-director Thiagarajan, Prashanth began his career at 17 by appearing in Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990) and went on to feature in other films including Balu Mahendra's Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992), R. Prashanth rose to stardom with Shankar's romantic comedy Jeans (1998) in which he played a dual role alongside Aishwarya Rai. The success of this film saw him garner opportunities to work in bigger film projects and in the late 1990s, he featured in a series of breakthrough films such as Kannedhirey Thondrinal (1998), Kaadhal Kavithai (1998), Jodi (1999), Parthen Rasithen (2000) and Piriyadha Varam Vendum (2001).

Netru Indru is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action film, directed by Padmamagan, a filmmaker who earlier directed Pallavan and the R. Parthiban-starrer Ammuvagiya Naan. Prasanna and Vimal, along with Richard Rishi and Bharani of Naadodigal fame, played the lead roles, while Arundhati and Manochitra were the female leads. Rehhan scored the music for the film, while Dinesh Sre was the cinematographer and C. S. Prem was the editor. Shot entirely in forests of South India, Netru Indru draws a parallel between events happened in the past and ones that happens in the present in the forest. Produced by S. Malathy, it was expected to hit the screens in August 2013, but it did not release on the projected release date but after several delays in June 2014.
