Pajala Airport (IATA : PJA, ICAO : ESUP) is an airport in Pajala, Sweden. While the English name is the official name, it may also be referred to in Swedish as Pajala flygplats.
The airport was opened for regular traffic in 1999. Before that, Pajala was said to be the most inaccessible municipality centre in Sweden, with around 5 hours travel time from central Stockholm (with propeller flights to Gällivare Airport, hand luggage only, and a 140 km journey by car from Gällivare to Pajala). A political principle was established at the time stating that the maximum travel time between central Stockholm and any municipality centre should be four hours to make one-day business travel possible.
The runway was extended by 880 metres (2,890 ft) to 2,302 metres (7,552 ft) in 2007, to be able to handle larger charter aircraft. [1] [2] Beginning in December 2013, the airport has been used for several charter flights per year from the United Kingdom for tourists wishing to see a white Christmas.
In 2021 the terminal building was enlarged to allow more passengers and more luggage. The winter flights from UK has had passengers staying only for the day with hand luggage, but there is a desire to have 200-passenger flights with checked luggage for longer stays. [3]

The airport is 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of Pajala village. Taxi and rental cars are available. The bus no 46 Gällivare–Pajala stops at the main road near the airport, however only twice per day.

The Convair 990 Coronado is a retired American narrow-body four-engined jet airliner produced between 1961 and 1963 by the Convair division of American company General Dynamics. It was a stretched version of its earlier Convair 880 produced in response to a request from American Airlines: the 990 was lengthened by 10 ft (3.0 m), which increased the number of passengers from between 88 and 110 in the 880 to between 96 and 121. This was still fewer passengers than the contemporary Boeing 707 or Douglas DC-8, although the 990 was 25–35 mph (40–56 km/h) faster than either in cruise.

M. R. Štefánik Airport, also called – especially in English – Bratislava Airport, located approximately 9 km (5.6 mi) northeast of the city center of Bratislava, spanning over the area of three municipalities. It is the main international airport of Slovakia. Shortly after the independence of Slovakia in 1993, it was named after general Milan Rastislav Štefánik (1880–1919), whose aircraft crashed near Bratislava in 1919. The airport is owned and run by Letisko M. R. Štefánika – Airport Bratislava, a.s. (BTS). As of September 2014 the company is fully owned by the Slovak Republic via the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development.
Malmö Airport, until 2007 known as Sturup Airport is Sweden's fourth busiest airport, handling 1,975,479 passengers in 2019. The airport is located in Svedala Municipality, approximately 28 kilometres (17 mi) east of Malmö and 26 kilometres (16 mi) south-east of Lund.

Transwede Airways AB, was a Swedish charter and later also scheduled airline operating between 1985 and 1998. Based at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Transwede initially flew Sud Aviation Caravelles, and from 1987 also McDonnell Douglas MD-80s. Most charter services were operated for package tour companies to the Mediterranean.
Kungsleden is a hiking trail in northern Sweden, approximately 467 kilometres (290 mi) long, between Abisko in the north and Hemavan in the south. The full distance breaks down into 419.3 km of trekking, 18.2 km of lake crossings and a 29.5 km stretch of road, almost all of which hikers cover by bus. It passes through, near the southern end, the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Europe. In the winter Kungsleden is a ski trail with approximately the same route.
Mora–Siljan Airport is located about 7 km or 3.3 NM southwest of Mora, Sweden. Its fixed-base operator (FBO), AB Dalaflyget, which also operates Dala Airport, consists of the municipalities of Mora, Falun, Borlänge and Dalarna County, in Central Sweden. Dalaflyget also provides air traffic control services. The 45 m wide runway and parking can accommodate Boeing 737-type airliners.
Gällivare Lapland Airport is an airport located in Gällivare Municipality, Sweden, about 7 kilometres (4 mi) east from Gällivare and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) from Malmberget. The airport has since 2009 been expanded in a project co-financed by the county council and the EU, the airport was also re-branded.
Dala Airport or Borlänge Airport is situated southeast of Borlänge, a city in the Dalarna province of Sweden. It is also 20 minutes from the city of Falun.
Kristianstad Airport is a regional airport situated outside Kristianstad in Scania, Sweden.
Rostov-on-Don AirportAeroport Rostov-na-Donu was an international airport located 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of the city of Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia. It was one of the largest airports in the south-west of Russia and the 12th busiest in the country. It was founded in 1925 and was designated an international airport in 1986. The airport served 50 destinations in Russia and abroad and hosted 30 airlines in 2015. It was a hub for Donavia. In 2015, Rostov Airport handled 2.06 million passengers, including 565 thousand on international routes.
Höga Kusten Airport, translated High Coast Airport, is an airport situated between the localities Kramfors and Sollefteå in Sweden. To the Swedish Aeronautical Information Publication the airport is known as Kramfors-Sollefteå Airport. The airport is named Kramfors on tickets and flight lists on other airports.
Gävle–Sandviken Airport, also called Gestrike Airport, is a public airport in Sweden, with a single runway 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide. The taxiway is 200 metres (660 ft) long and 15 metres (49 ft) wide.
