The Pakistan A cricket team toured Australia in July 2024 to play the Bangladesh A cricket team. [1] The bilateral series consisted of two first-class matches. [2] The series was hosted by the Northern Territory Cricket Association on behalf of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). [3]

Contents

The four-day matches were used by Bangladesh to prepare their Test players for their upcoming ICC World Test Championship fixtures against Pakistan and India. [4] In June 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced the dates of the bilateral series. [5] Pakistan A arrived in Darwin on 14 July 2024. [6]

Following the bilateral fixtures, a tri-nation series was also held involving the two teams along with the Northern Territory cricket team. [7] All the matches of the tour took place in Darwin, Northern Territory, marking Pakistan A's second successive Darwin tour. [8]

The Pakistan national cricket team has represented Pakistan in international cricket since 1952. It is controlled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the governing body for cricket in Pakistan, which is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistan compete in cricket tours and tournaments sanctioned by the PCB and other regional or international cricket bodies in Test, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20) formats. The Pakistan national cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 23 August to 14 September 2013. The tour consisted of two Twenty20 International matches, three One Day International matches, and two Test matches. The limited overs matches was played at the Harare Sports Club while the Test matches were split between Harare and the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was the 60th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan's domestic first-class cricket competition. It was contested by 16 teams representing eight regional associations and eight departments, and took place from 26 September to 25 December 2017, spanning almost two weeks less than originally planned. Pakistan's former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was critical of the compressed schedule and the quality of the pitches saying "it takes time to prepare a good pitch for a game and nobody can make it in two days".

Shaheen Shah AfridiUrdu: شاہین شاہ آفریدی; Pashto: شاهین شاه اپریدی is a Pakistani international cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in the T20I format. He is also one of the prime bowlers of Pakistan. Under his leadership, Lahore Qalandars won their first PSL title in the 2022 season and again went on to win the 2023 season, becoming the first team in PSL history to successfully defend their title. He is the first Pakistani to win the Garfield Sobers Trophy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Asia Cup</span> Cricket tournament in the United Arab Emirates

The 2022 Asia Cup was the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, with the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) during August and September 2022 in the United Arab Emirates. Originally scheduled to be held in September 2020, the tournament was postponed in July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then rescheduled to take place in June 2021, before being postponed once again. Pakistan was scheduled to host the tournament after retaining the rights to host the 2022 edition. However, in October 2021, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022, with Pakistan co-hosting the 2023 edition with the former. India were the defending champions, and were eliminated in the Super Four stage in this edition. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs in the final, to win their sixth title and their first in T20I format.

The Sri Lankan cricket team toured Pakistan in September and October 2019 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The tour originally had two Test matches scheduled to take place, but these were moved to December 2019. Sri Lanka last played a match in Pakistan in October 2017, when the third T20I took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan won the ODI series 2–0, after the first match was washed out, and Sri Lanka won the T20I series 3–0.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured Pakistan in January and February 2020 to play one Test match and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship.

The 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was a first-class domestic cricket competition that took place in Pakistan from 14 September to 31 December 2019. Habib Bank Limited were the defending champions. However, after the new domestic structure was announced by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), six newly formed regional teams played in the tournament.

The Pakistan cricket team toured England in August and September 2020 to play three Tests and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. The first Test and the T20I matches were played at Old Trafford, and the second and third Test matches were played at the Rose Bowl. All of the fixtures were played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Pakistan in October and November 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. All of the matches were played behind closed doors at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Pakistan's Babar Azam captained the team for the first time in ODI cricket.

The Pakistan cricket team toured New Zealand in December 2020 and January 2021 to play two Test and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. In August 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the tour was going ahead, and were working with their government to comply with biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. On 29 September 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the full schedule of the tour.

The 2020–21 National T20 Cup was a Twenty20 domestic cricket competition that was played in Pakistan. It was the 17th season of the National T20 Cup, and started on 30 September 2020, and finished on 18 October 2020. Northern cricket team were the defending champions. The season featured an expanded format, with the number of matches increasing from 18 to 33. In July 2020, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the tournament would be held either in Multan or Rawalpindi. In August 2020, it was confirmed that the first leg will be played in Multan, and the final leg in Rawalpindi.

The Pakistan cricket team toured Zimbabwe in April and May 2021 to play two Tests and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The tour of Zimbabwe followed on from Pakistan's tour of South Africa. On 28 March 2021, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the tour itinerary, with all the matches being played behind closed doors in Harare.

The Pakistan cricket team toured Bangladesh in November and December 2021 to play two Test and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series was part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed in September 2021. Pakistan last toured Bangladesh in April and May 2015.

The West Indies cricket team toured Pakistan in June 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. Originally, the matches were scheduled to be played in December 2021, but were postponed after multiple cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the West Indies team and support staff. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The New Zealand cricket team toured Pakistan in December 2022 and January 2023 to play two Test matches and three One Day International (ODI) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship, and the ODI matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The New Zealand cricket team toured Pakistan in April and May 2023 to play five One Day International (ODI) matches and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The tour was to make up for the series that was postponed in September 2021. The ODI series was not part of the Super League. However, it formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

The 2022 New Zealand Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that took place in October 2022 as a preparatory series before 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It was a tri-nation series between New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). On 26 June 2022, Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed their participation in the tournament. On 28 June 2022, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the fixtures with all the matches played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

The Pakistan men's cricket team toured Sri Lanka in July 2023 to play two Test matches. The series formed part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. In August 2022, the International Cricket Council in a press release confirmed the bilateral series. On 20 June 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced the schedule of the tour.

The Pakistan men's cricket team toured Ireland in May 2024 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Ireland. The series formed part of both teams' preparation ahead of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It was the first bilateral T20I series between the two teams. In July 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the bilateral series as a part of Pakistan's revised 2023–2025 Future Tours Programme. In March 2024, the Cricket Ireland confirmed the schedule for the tour. Pakistan had last toured Ireland in 2018.
