The 1998 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XVI Commonwealth Games, was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This edition is marked by several unprecedented facts in the history of the event. The 1998 games were the first held in an Asian country and the last Commonwealth Games of the 20th century. This was also the first time the games took place in a nation with a head of state other than the Head of the Commonwealth, and the first time the games were held in a country whose majority of the population did not have English as the first language. For the first time ever, the games included team sports. The other bid from the 1998 games came from Adelaide in Australia. Malaysia was the eighth nation to host the Commonwealth Games after Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Jamaica and Scotland. Around 3638 athletes from 70 Commonwealth member nations participated at the games which featured 214 events in 15 sports with 34 of them collected medals.
The Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) is an international multi-sport event organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The games were held in the years, mid-way between when the Commonwealth Games are held, until 2008. They continued to be held every four years, but in the year after the Commonwealth Games are held, from 2011 to 2015. Since 2017, they've been held in the year before the Commonwealth Games are held. The first edition was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 10–14 August 2000. The age limitation of the athletes is from 14 to 18.

Mauritius competed in their eleventh Commonwealth Games in 2002 sending both male and female athletes to compete in athletics, badminton, boxing, judo, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting. The nation gained their only medal in 100 kg men's judo, a bronze. This was a decrease on Kuala Lumpur 1998 when it won a gold a silver and two bronze.
Malta competed in their ninth Commonwealth Games in 2002 sending 13 male and 4 female athletes to compete in athletics, shooting, swimming, triathlon, weightlifting and wrestling. The nation gained their only medal in the men's Double Trap Shooting, a bronze. This was the second time Malta had won a medal at the games, their first coming in Auckland in 1990.
Ghana competed at their twelfth games in Manchester sending 22 athletes in mixed teams in athletics, badminton and weightlifting and sent all male teams to compete in boxing and judo. Despite this strong team, the only medal won was a bronze in the Women's Heptathlon. A poor showing by Ghana's high standards of the past.
Sri Lanka arrived in Manchester for their twelfth Commonwealth Games, bringing a total of 31 male and 25 female athletes competing in Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Netball, Rugby 7's, ShootingSquash, Swimming and Weightlifting This large team failed to win any medals, a disappointment compared to the previous two games and the following one in Melbourne.
Dominica competed for the sixth time at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Six male athletes were sent to the games, but no females, competing in athletics, squash and table tennis They did not win any medals.
Mozambique competed in its second Commonwealth Games in 2002. It sent six male athletes to the games and three females, competing in athletics, badminton, boxing and swimming. Maria Lurdes Mutola won the nation's only medal, a gold in the women's 800 meters, finishing over a second ahead of her nearest rival.
Samoa competed at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester. It sent 34 male and three female competitors. athletics, boxing, lawn bowls, rugby sevens, shooting, weightlifting and wrestling. It won two silvers and a bronze, all in weightlifting, the nations best performance at the games.

Canada competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games which were held in Delhi, India from October 3–14, 2010. Canada competed in 15 out of 17 sports with the exceptions being netball and tennis. Canada's team consisted of 251 athletes, which was a decrease of 3 from the 2006 games. However, the events at these games were much more than they were in 2006. Several athletes withdrew due to safety concerns, including medal contenders Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, Perdita Felician and Dietmar Trillus. Ken Pereira, Captain of the Men's field hockey team, was named the flag bearer on September 18, 2010, becoming the first Indo-Canadian and field hockey player to receive the honour.
Pakistan competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010.
Pakistan participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The Pakistan Olympic Association announced that its delegation for the games would consist of 62 athletes in 11 sports, but only 48 competed. Pakistan participated in badminton, boxing, gymnastics, judo, lawn bowling, shooting, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
Pakistan competed at the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea between 19 September and 5 October 2014. It sent 182 athletes to compete in 23 sports. It was defending its title in hockey (men's), squash and cricket (women's) but successfully managed to defend the women's cricket title only.
Pakistan competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. According to the secretary general of Pakistan Olympic Association, around 397 Pakistani athletes participated in the Games.

India competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was India's 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
Pakistan will participate in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Konya, Turkey from 9 to 18 August 2022, the Games were rescheduled from 20 to 29 August 2021 however the event was postponed to be held from 10 to 19 September 2021 in July 2020 by the ISSF because the original dates were coinciding with the 2020 Summer Olympics, which were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, the ISSF postponed the event to August 2022 citing the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the participating countries.
