Tuvalu sent a small delegation of table tennis players only to the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. [1] 2002 marked Tuvalu's second participation in the Commonwealth Games. [1] The tiny Pacific nation did not win any medals.

Tuvaluans took part in the men's doubles in table tennis, and failed to reach the round of sixteen.
In the men's singles, the country was represented by Alan Puga Resture and Teokila Maleko, who failed to win a medal.
Achanta Sharath Kamal, known as Sharath Kamal, is an Indian professional table tennis player. He is the first Indian table tennis player ever to become ten time Senior National Champion hence breaking the record of eight-time National Champion Kamlesh Mehta. In 2019 he was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award and in 2022, he was awarded the Khel Ratna Award, India's highest sporting honour.

In 2018 Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast, Australia, He won gold in men's team event with Sharath Kamal, Anthony Amalraj, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran & Sanil Shetty and bronze in Men's doubles event with Sanil Shetty. Harmeet Desai won the men's singles title at Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 2019 at Cuttak, India defeated favorite Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to claim the men's singles title. He has been honoured with the Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in 2019.

Tuvalu competed at the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa. The country participated in nine sports at the 2019 games. The Tuvaluan team was made up of 98 athletes, including 3 para-athletes: Esekai Vaega, Tanielu Soa, and Ioane Hawaii who received a gold medal in the Table Tennis, Men's Seated Singles division.
Ioane Hawaii is a Tuvaluan para table tennis player and disability rights activist who has represented Tuvalu at the Pacific Games.
