Sri Lanka arrived in Manchester for their twelfth Commonwealth Games, [1] bringing a total of 31 male and 25 female athletes [2] competing in athletics, badminton, boxing, netball, rugby 7's, shooting squash, swimming and weightlifting. [3] This large team failed to win any medals, a disappointment compared to the previous two games and the following one in Melbourne.

Imogen Jayne Cairns is a British former artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Representing England, Cairns was a three-time Commonwealth Games champion in vault, twice, and in floor exercise.
Mouma Das is an Indian table tennis player. Born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, she has represented India in international events since the early 2000s. Das has won multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games including a gold in the Women's Team Competition in 2018. She was awarded the Arjuna Award, India's second highest sporting honour in 2013 for her contributions to the sport.

Pakistan competed in Manchester for their ninth Commonwealth Games despite being suspended from the Commonwealth three years earlier. It sent mixed teams in athletics, badminton, squash and table tennis. All male teams in boxing, cycling, hockey, judo, shooting, weightlifting and wrestling, and an all female team in swimming. In total it sent 46 males and five females. It won its only gold in Boxing, three silvers in Weightlifting and bronze medals in Hockey, Shooting and Wrestling. Finishing 19th overall in the medals table.
Turks & Caicos attended the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. It was their fourth time at the Games. The nation sent just four male athletes to the Games, to compete in Athletics. They were:

The 1910–11 VMI Keydets basketball team represented the Virginia Military Institute in their third ever season of basketball. The Keydets went 3–5, coached by J. Mitchell. They played their games out of the Lexington Skating Rink.
