Panathinaikos AC Rugby Team is the professional Rugby team of Panathinaikos A.C., the Athens-based multi-sport club. Founded in 2013, it is one of the newest rugby teams in Greece. [1]

Contents

History

The first presence of the team took place in the season 2013-14 in the Unity Cup League and finished second after Attica Springboks RFC.

Women's team

Panathinaikos, in 2014, created also a women's rugby union team. The first presence of the team was in a friendly game against Aeolos Rugby women's team.

Panathinaikos AC Women's Basketball is the women's basketball department of the major Greek multi-sport club Panathinaikos A.O. The club is based in Athens, Greece. The department was founded in 1937 creating the first and oldest women's basketball team in the country. Pavlos and Thanasis Giannakopoulos Indoor Hall is the home arena of the team.

Panathinaikos AC Water Polo, founded in 1930, is the water polo department of Panathinaikos A.C., the Athens-based Greek multi-sport club. Despite its early establishment it doesn't have any particular honours so far. The best result it has achieved in the A1 Ethniki Water Polo is the second place.

Panathinaikos AC Field Hockey department was refounded in 2014.

Sarah Law is a Scottish rugby player from Penicuik, near Edinburgh. She plays for Scotland and has represented them over fifty times internationally, including at the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship. Law was the fourth Scottish woman to receive a professional rugby contract from Scotland. She kicked the match-winning penalty in the win against Wales in the 2017 Women's Six Nations Championship to beat the opposing team for the first time in seven years. The win was described a "historic rugby victory" by the Edinburgh Evening News. She repeated the feat under even more pressurised circumstances in 2021 when her 82nd minute conversion of a Chloe Rollie try put Scotland through to the qualification final for the Rugby World Cup at the expense of their opponents Ireland.

Panathinaikos AC women's football is a Greek team, part of the major Athens-based multi-sport club Panathinaikos A.O. It was first founded in 1980 and operated until 1982. In its short presence, it produced the athletes who starred in the following years, who were decisive factors for the development of women's football in Greece. On June 30, 2021, the reactivation of the department was officially announced.
