Pangandaran is an mixed class passenger train with executive, premium economy, & panoramic class that operated by Kereta Api Indonesia, running between Jakarta Gambir & Banjar via Bandung (then continued to Pangandaran if Pangandaran rail line completed by the Government of West Java). This train offer 1x daily everyday, morning schedule from Jakarta Gambir to Banjar & evening/night schedule from Banjar to Jakarta Gambir around 325 km (201 mil) in 7 hours 54 minutes for travel.

The Pangandaran train itself origin from Pangandaran beach in Southern Java but for to Pangandaran, the passenger train must riding with other vehicle for should destination (Pangandaran from Banjar).

History

Priangan Express train (2009)

Initially there was a train service on the same route, namely the Priangan Ekspres train, which began operating on 12 August 2009. [1] However, the Priangan Express train was ceased on 1 December 2009 due passenger occupation of the Priangan Express train that low & so that it doesn't cover operating costs—the small number of passengers is thought to be due to the departure time from the starting station being inconvenient for the public again. [2]

Pangandaran train (2019 - 2021)

On 2 January 2019, Kereta Api Indonesia launching for the Pangandaran train with executive & premium economy stainless steel that from PT INKA. The Pangandaran train it self serving from Jakarta Gambir to Banjar via Parahyangan mountainous region. [3]

During the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the Pangandaran train was one of the trains whose operations were temporarily suspended due to the spread of the virus. Since the enactment of new train travel chart 2021 Gapeka schedule on 10 February 2021, this train service has only operated as a facultative train, this meaning that it only runs at certain times. During the enactment of new train travel chart 2021, this train hasn't actually been operational.

Pangandaran train (2024 - Present)

Then, since the enactment of new train travel chart 2023, the travel status of this train changes to additional train. [4]

In September 2023, Public Relations of Operation Area 2 Bandung, Mahendro, revealed that the regional government in the East Priangan region has proposed the resumption of the executive train route from Jakarta to their region. He said that the regional governments in question are likely the Tasikmalaya Regency-Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, and Banjar City. [5]

On 24 January 2024, the Pangandaran train return operated as a regular train as a response from the regional government throughout the East Priangan region. Finally, the Pangandaran train was back by KAI after 4 years suspended due Covid-19 Pandemic, but difference that previous class, the panoramic car was added in the Pangandaran train for to Banjar from Jakarta. [6]

The Pangandaran and Papandayan were share with the Parahyangan the use of stainless steel-bodied trains; consisting of three executive class trains, four premium economy class trains, one dining car, and one generator train, plus one panoramic train which uses stainless steel facilities.

However, on 1 August 2025, the Pangandaran & Papandayan train with use Panoramic car were while adding Priority class to replace Panoramic class, which will could enter maintenance at Train depot.

Finally, on 1 September 2025, the Papandayan & Pangandaran train return use with the Panoramic car after 1 month for maintenance of the Panoramic car.

List of the Station

On 1 February 2025 following of the enactment of new train travel chart 2025, the Pangandaran train rolling system with the Papandayan train that which from Jakarta Gambir to Garut, but on 1 August 2025, the Pangandaran & Papandayan train with Panoramic car was replace to Priority for temporarily. [7]
