Parkview Baptist School (PBS) is a private K-12 Christian school located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States.
With 1,260 students, [1] Parkview Baptist School is the largest private school in Louisiana. [2] The school began with students from kindergarten to sixth grade in 1981, adding grades 7–12 in 1983. PBS is now divided into three administrative units: Parkview Baptist Elementary School (K-4), Parkview Baptist Middle School (5-8), and Parkview Baptist High School (9-12). Grade 5 was moved to be part of the middle school in fall 2008.
In 1981, the school was founded by members of the Parkview Baptist Church. The school and church were integrated into one core entity, but both maintain control of individual issues.
Parkview is governed by a school board that consists of appointed members from the school, church, and community. [1]
Following the rise of non-accreted christian academies in the 1980s due to desegregation push back, [3] Parkview Baptist Highschool opened out of parental fears of public funding [4] allowing legal integration. [5] Parkview Baptist Highschool has signaled changed in recent advertising and enrollment practices; [6] however, despite these signals, PBS remains 89.9% white. [7]
Parkview Baptist School is certified by the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education as an approved K-12 education program. PBS is also accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). It is one of only 345 other independent schools in 11 states having this dual accreditation. [8] The school has also been approved to receive foreign students by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services.

Southern University and A&M College is a public historically black land-grant university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. It is the largest historically black college or university (HBCU) in Louisiana, a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and the flagship institution of the Southern University System. False River Academy is a nonsectarian private school located in New Roads, Louisiana, in Pointe Coupee Parish. It serves grades Pre-K through 12. The school is independent, and has its own school board. Its enrollment is drawn from Pointe Coupee and surrounding parishes. It is one of two private schools and one of three high schools in the parish.
Istrouma High School is an accredited public school located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. It was founded in 1917, and is located in East Baton Rouge Parish. Its name is a local Indian word meaning "red stick." Red stick is also the English language translation of the French words baton rouge. Christian Life Academy, and later The Church Academy, was a private, non-denominational Christian school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was founded as Christian Life Academy in 1981 and closed in 2017. The school reopened in 2018 as The Church Academy, but closed again in 2019. Andrew Michael Dileo is an American football wide receiver and baseball player. He was a member of the Michigan Wolverines football team from 2010 through the 2013 season. He has completed his senior season as a wide receiver for the 2013 Michigan team.
