Paul Michael Hutchison (born 9 June 1977, [1] Leeds,Yorkshire,England) is an English former first-class cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman,and a left-arm fast-medium bowler.
Hutchison played for the Under-17 and Under-19 England team. On Hutchison's first-class debut for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1997,he took 7 for 38,followed by a County Championship debut tally of 7 for 50,recording the best Yorkshire debut bowling return since Wilfred Rhodes in 1898. He went on to play thirty nine first-class matches for Yorkshire between 1996 and 2001,taking 143 wickets at 22.68,before being released by the county. [1]
At the start of the 1996 season Hutchison was selected to play in the Test trial match at Chelmsford where he played for 'The Rest of England' against England 'A'. The highlight being dismissing Nasser Hussain in the second innings.
Hutchison also toured with England 'A' twice,firstly to Kenya and Sri Lanka in 1997/98 and then Zimbabwe and South Africa in 1998/99. Injury to his back cut short this tour and he returned home with a stress fracture to the back. An injury that would trouble him for the rest of his career.
He joined Sussex in 2002,but,beset by injury,he only stayed two years before moving to Middlesex. However,he only made two first-class appearances in 2005. His most recent non first-class appearance was at Lord's in June 2007,when he took 2 for 35 for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against a European XI.
Since retiring from first-class cricket Hutchison has been involved in cricket at varying levels. He is the former head coach to the Swedish Cricket Federation,is an active scout for one of the 18 first-class Counties and spent time as cricket chairman at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club and New Farnley Cricket Club in the Bradford Premier League.
Hutchison was appointed as director of cricket and men's head coach at Jersey in March 2024. [2]

Ashley Fraser Giles is a former English first-class cricketer,who played 54 Test matches and 62 One Day Internationals for England before being forced to retire due to a recurring hip injury. Giles played the entirety of his 14-year first-class career at Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Mushtaq Ahmed is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who currently acts as the spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh national cricket team. A leg break googly bowler,at his peak he was described as being one of the best three wrist-spinners in the world. In an international career that spanned from 1990 until 2003,he claimed 185 wickets in Test cricket and 161 in One Day Internationals. He was at his most prolific internationally between 1995 and 1998,but his most successful years were as a domestic player for Sussex in the early 2000s.
Darren Scott Lehmann is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who coached the Australian national team. Lehmann made his ODI debut in 1996 and Test debut in 1998. He was on the fringes of national selection for the entirety of the 1990s,and only became a regular in the ODI team in 2001 and Test team in late 2002,before being dropped in early 2005. Primarily an aggressive left-handed batsman,Lehmann was also a part-time left arm orthodox bowler,and gained renown for his disregard for physical fitness and modern dietary regimes. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket in November 2007. Lehmann was a member of the Australian team that won the 1999 Cricket World Cup and the 2003 Cricket World Cup,where in the 1999 final,he scored the winning boundary,and took the winning catch in the 2003 final.
Vikram Singh Solanki is an English cricket coach and former first-class cricketer. In limited over international cricket,he played over 50 One Day Internationals for England as a batsman and occasional off-spinner.
Dennis Brian Close,was an English first-class cricketer. He was picked to play against New Zealand in July 1949,when he was 18 years old. Close went on to play 22 Test matches for England,captaining them seven times to six wins and one drawn test. Close also captained Yorkshire to four county championship titles –the main domestic trophy in English cricket. He later went on to captain Somerset,where he is widely credited with developing the county into a hard-playing team,and helping to mould Viv Richards and Ian Botham into the successful players they became.
Richard Kevin James Dawson is an English cricket coach and former first-class cricketer,who played primarily as an off-spinner.
Stuart Grant Law is an Australian-born cricket coach and former cricketer. He was a part of the Australian squad which finished as runners-up at the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
