Peachcake is an American electronic group from Phoenix, Arizona.
Originally conceived by Stefan Pruett and John O'Keefe as an informal project with the aim of experimenting with electronic music, Peachcake developed into a national touring band. They originally did not plan to last longer than three shows, including a dismal first show at a small night club where the band was gated off from the audience.
Peachcake released their first EP, titled Chain Letter EP, in 2004 and garnered local success in Arizona, including the cover feature of the Phoenix New Times [1] and playing with several large national acts including Explosions in the Sky, Of Montreal, and The Go! Team. The band started touring in mid-2005 all throughout the West Coast, the South and the Midwest. Some on their own and some with other indie bands and friends Femme Fatality, Less Pain Forever, and Adam Panic.
In the latter part of 2006, Peachcake joined forces with Jim Adkins' label, Western Tread Recordings, to release a split EP along with local Arizona band Less Pain Forever. In October, the band landed an opening slot on Hellogoodbye's national headlining tour. During the tour, the band signed to indie record label, Sidecho Records, to release their debut full length, What Year Will You Have The World?..
Though the band was scheduled to release their full length in the mid-2007, the release date was pushed back several times throughout the year due to several extensions to finish the album and their continuous touring schedule. Upon completion of What Year Will You Have The World?.. in early 2008, the band parted ways with Sidecho Records and later released the album with the help of Warner Music Group/ADA and Los Angeles based production company, Subtractive, through their own imprint label called The Planet Awesome! on November 18, 2008. The group toured in the beginning of 2009 to support the album playing shows with MC Lars, Danger Radio, The Scene Aesthetic, Young The Giant, Get Back Loretta and Dear and the Headlights, as well as appearances at Daytrotter, Canadian Music Week and Bamboozle Left.
On March 20, 2009, Peachcake were made honorary members of the International Peace Bureau for their efforts to promote tolerance, peace and love through music and live performance. [2]
In April 2009, longtime member John O'Keefe left the group to pursue other endeavors. Shortly after his leaving, Pruett along with guitarist Mike McHale started writing new material with Phoenix-based songwriter and beat producer, David Jackman. The three continued writing songs throughout the rest of 2009 and the first half of 2010. During that time, Peachcake expanded the live band with various live players to experiment with their live show including performances at Vans Warped Tour, Cleveland's Ingenuity Fest, Norway's Slottsfjell Festival, Arizona's Fall Frenzy and Phoenix Comicon.
In May 2010, Peachcake contributed a new song called "The Soundtrack Of A Revolution!" to the Phoenix New Times compilation, A Line In The Sand: A Compilation Of SB 1070 Protest Songs, which featured local Arizona artists that opposed the Arizona SB 1070 immigration bill. [3]
After a year of writing new songs, the band entered the studio with producer/engineer Jalipaz at Audioconfusion in Mesa, AZ in June 2010 to record a new album, which would later be titled Unbelievable Souls. After finishing recording in July 2010, the album was sent off to New York City to be mixed by mixing engineer Alex Aldi [4] and mastered by Greg Calbi, senior mastering engineer at Sterling Sound.
On April 12, 2011, "Were We Ever Really Right?", a new song to be featured on Unbelievable Souls, was selected by the International Peace Bureau and Demilitarize.org as the official song for the Global Day of Action on Military Spending, a worldwide event to support demilitarization across the globe.
On May 3, 2011, Peachcake released a five-song EP titled This Wasn't Our Plan that included three songs from Unbelievable Souls, a demo of a new song and a remix done by DJ Semuta. The single "You Matter" was released a week prior on their website.
"You Matter" was featured during the TNT television show, HawthoRNe, during the episode, "A Fair To Remember". The episode aired on July 5, 2011. [5]
Since the release of This Wasn't Our Plan, Peachcake has performed with and supported many national acts both locally in Arizona and on tour in the past few months, including shows with Cage The Elephant, Future Islands, Peter Murphy, She Wants Revenge, Washed Out, Neon Trees, Meat Puppets, T. Mills, Japanther, and Electric Guest.
Peachcake's single "You Matter" was featured on Paul Frank's Academy Of Awesome compilation showcasing bands that had performed during Paul Frank's Academy Of Awesome Summer Tour. The album was released on November 22, 2011, on Paul Frank Records through iTunes and Amazon. [6]
In July 2012, Peachcake performed at the ten-year anniversary of Slottsfjell in Tønsberg, Norway, featuring New Order, Janelle Monáe, Friendly Fires, Wolfmother, Chase & Status, Noah & The Whale and more.
On July 31, Peachcake announced that their new album, Unbelievable Souls, would be released on September 25 and unveiled the first single, "The World Is Our Platform To Mean Something", on their website. [7]

Their last show was April 13, 2013, at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, AZ. The group has been inactive since then.
On June 14, 2020, founding member Stefan Pruett had passed away due to apparent heart failure. [9] Born with a congenital heart condition, Pruett had survived three open-heart surgeries and had lived all his life with a pacemaker. He was found in his Los Angeles apartment by friend and collaborator Jeremy Dawson. Dawson said that Pruett’s pacemaker was due for a tune-up earlier this year but that his appointment kept getting pushed back due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Mike McHale, Peachcake band member and longtime friend of Pruett, coordinated a memorial charity concert honoring Stefan on January 15, 2022, at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, AZ. [10] The event brought together friends and family of Stefan to celebrate his life and all of the music that he had created in his lifetime, including a performance by Forrest Kline of Hellogoodbye, Jeremy Dawson of Shiny Toy Guns showcasing the music of Pruett's final project, The Guidance, and McHale along with past band members performing the music of Peachcake.
Blackmore's Night is a British-American neo-medieval folk rock band formed in 1997, consisting mainly of Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night. Their lineup has seen many changes over the years; Blackmore and Night have been the only two constant members. They have released eleven studio albums. Their early releases were mostly acoustic and imitated early music, but eventually Blackmore's Night started using more electric guitars and other modern instruments, as well as performing folk-rearranged cover versions of pop and rock songs.
Daryl Hall and John Oates, commonly known as Hall & Oates, were an American rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. Daryl Hall was generally the lead vocalist; John Oates primarily played the electric guitar and provided backing vocals. The two wrote most of the songs they performed, either separately or in collaboration. They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s with a fusion of rock and roll, soul music, and rhythm and blues.
Collective Soul is an American rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, the group consists of the brothers Ed and Dean Roland, Will Turpin (bassist), Johnny Rabb (drummer), and Jesse Triplett. Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the Roland brothers, bassist David Neal, guitarist Ross Childress, and drummer Shane Evans. Collective Soul released their Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid album on the independent label Rising Storm Records in 1993. The band went from obscurity to popularity that year after the album's lead single "Shine" received regional radio play. Around the same time, Turpin replaced Neal on bass. The album was then re-released in 1994 by the major label Atlantic Records; thus, "Shine" became a national hit as it peaked at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock and No. 4 on the Mainstream Top 40 charts.
Mr. Mister was an American rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, active from 1982 until 1990. The band consisted of Richard Page on lead vocals and bass guitar, Steve George on keyboards/backing vocals, Pat Mastelotto on acoustic and electronic drums/percussion and Steve Farris on guitars/backing vocals. Mr. Mister was the successor to the band Pages, fronted by Page and George from 1978 to 1981.
Cinderella was an American rock band formed in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1983. The band emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum studio albums and hit singles whose music videos received heavy MTV rotation and popularity. Cinderella initially had a glam metal sound throughout the late 1980s before shifting into a more blues rock-based sound during the early to mid 1990s.
Sade are an English band, formed in London in 1982 and named after their lead singer, Sade Adu. Three members, Paul Anthony Cooke, Stuart Mathewman, and Paul Spencer Denman, are from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Its music features elements of soul, quiet storm, smooth jazz and sophisti-pop. All of the band's albums, including compilations and a live album, have charted in the US Top Ten.
Whiskeytown was an American alternative country band formed in 1994 from Raleigh, North Carolina. Fronted by Ryan Adams, the group included members Caitlin Cary, Phil Wandscher, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, and Mike Daly. They disbanded in 2000 with Adams leaving to pursue his solo career. Whiskeytown gradually expanded its sound outside the confines of alternative country while still maintaining its alternative roots.
Outlaws is an American Southern rock band from Tampa, Florida. They are best known for their 1975 hit "There Goes Another Love Song" and extended guitar jam "Green Grass and High Tides" from their 1975 debut album, plus their 1980 cover of the Stan Jones classic "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky".
Authority Zero is an American punk rock band from Mesa, Arizona, United States, formed in 1994. The band's style is rooted in reggae and skate punk, with Spanish/Portuguese influences. They have released seven albums to date, two DVDs and nine singles. The band regularly tours North America, Europe and Japan.
Hellogoodbye is an American pop rock band that was formed in Huntington Beach, California in 2001 by singer Forrest Kline. They were signed to Drive-Thru Records and released their first full-length album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! in 2006, having previously released the EP Hellogoodbye in 2004, and DVD OMG HGB DVD ROTFL in 2005. In 2010, the band released Would It Kill You? on their label Wasted Summer Records. The album was released in the United Kingdom and Europe by LAB Records on March 14, 2011. Hellogoodbye released their third album, Everything Is Debatable, on October 29, 2013, while touring as the opening act for Paramore's The Self-Titled Tour. Their fourth album, S'Only Natural, was released on October 5, 2018.
The Gorge is a collection of the songs played during Dave Matthews Band's three-night concert in 2002 at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. The album was released in a three-disc set featuring 2 CDs and a DVD with live footage, advanced multi-angle features, behind the scenes clips, and a music video. The DVD was directed by Fenton Williams of Filament Productions. The DVD was authored by Neil Matthews at Ascent Media in New York City. The entire three-night concert was also released online through the band's online store as an MP3 or FLAC download, or as a six-CD box set.
Just Surrender is an American rock band from Dover Plains, New York, formerly known as A Second Chance, formed by three high school friends: Jason "Jay" Maffucci, Andy Meunier and Steve Miller. The vocalist/guitarist Dan Simons, formerly of The Record Collection, joined the original three and it was a four-piece until 2008. The band is known for the up-beat mood in its music and for not having a lead vocalist, but rather having two vocalists who "share the spotlight". The group has released three studio albums and one EP.
Lydia is an American indie rock band from Gilbert, Arizona, formed in 2003.
Witness is the twelfth studio album by British folk duo Show of Hands. The album was recorded in January 2006 at Presshouse Studio, Colyton, Devon, and was produced by Simon Emmerson and Simon ‘Mass’ Massey from the Afro Celts, who helped to incorporate elements of traditional African, ambient and electronic dance music with the duo's characteristic folk style. It was the band's first album in twelve years to use a rhythm section. Lyrically, the album addresses communal and heritage values, and was described by the duo's lead singer Steve Knightley as a "cinematic style journey of the West Country." The album features unofficial third member Miranda Sykes on ten of its twelve tracks.
Fly My Pretties is a collaboration of musicians originally from Wellington, New Zealand who are known for coming together to record live albums, in various locations in New Zealand. The different musical backgrounds of the members make for an eclectic mix of songs on their releases. Fly My Pretties was the brainchild of Barnaby Weir, front man of the Black Seeds and Mikee Tucker of Loop Recordings Aot(ear)oa. The objective: To meet, exchange ideas, and then perform and record the results in front of a live audience.
The Classic Crime is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 2004. The band's current lineup consists of Matt MacDonald, Alan Clark (bass), Robert "Cheeze" Negrin (guitar), and Paul "Skip" Erickson. They have released three albums and an EP on Tooth & Nail Records, two of which, The Silver Cord (2008) and Vagabonds (2010), charted in the Billboard 200. In July 2011, the band left Tooth & Nail to produce a fourth album with the help of fan donations via Kickstarter, called Phoenix (2012). After the success they found in the crowdfunding approach with Phoenix, the band continued using Kickstarter as a means to fund their albums, subsequently releasing What Was Done: Vol. 1 in 2014, How to Be Human in 2017, Patterns in the Static in 2020, and Grim Age in 2023.
Psychostick is an American comedy metal band from Tempe, Arizona, known for their comical image and usage of humor in their songs and lyrics. Their style is referred to by themselves and some online album review sites as "humorcore".
Via Audio is an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York. Their first full-length album Say Something, was released in 2007 by Sidecho Records, to positive reviews from prominent independent music publications such as Pitchfork Media, Alternative Press, Spin Magazine, & Tiny Mix Tapes. The band met while attending college at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, later moving to Brooklyn, New York. They released their second full-length album titled Animalore on Undertow Music on March 9, 2010; it was produced by Spoon's Jim Eno. Their third full-length album titled "Natural Language" was self-released on March 25, 2014. It was produced and recorded by Dan Molad in Brooklyn, NY.
Another Life is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter and The Killers bassist Mark Stoermer, which was released on November 1, 2011 as a free download via markstoermer.com, and on CD and vinyl on January 24, 2012. It was also released on iTunes the same day along with two bonus tracks. The album was self-released on St. August Records.
