A haveli is a traditional townhouse, mansion, manor house, palace or fort in the Indian subcontinent, usually one with historical and architectural significance. The word haveli is derived from Arabic hawali, meaning "partition" or "private space", popularised under the Mughal Empire, and was devoid of any architectural affiliations. Later, the word haveli came to be used as a generic term for various styles of regional mansions, manor houses, townhouse and temples found in the Indian subcontinent.

Border of this district is connected with district Muzaffarnagar in East and with Harayana in West and with Saharanpur in North and with district Baghpat it is connected in South.It is said that the name Thana Bhawan emerged from the name of Devi Bhawan Temple. In the 18th century it was home to mostly Hindu and Muslims families. It is situated on the Delhi-Saharanpur highway [[NH 709B]] around 120 kilometres (75 mi) from Delhi.

Jat Mahasabha or All India Jat Mahasabha is an organization of Jats in India. The organization was created to raise awareness about the social and economic problems faced by Jats. The Jat Mahasabha spearheaded the community's struggle for reservation in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections in 1999. Chaudhary Dara Singh was the president, followed by patron Ch Ajay Singh. The Mahasabha became a forum for demanding employment and airing Jat grievances over their poor representation in government service.

Chandrawal is a 1984 Haryanvi film. It is the third Haryanavi-language film to be released and the first financially successful one. Written by Late. Shri Devi Shankar Prabhakar, produced by Usha Sharma and directed by Jayant Prabhaker, the film's music was arranged by J. P. Kaushik. Starring dancer Usha Sharma, the film tells the story of a tragic love affair between Chandrawal, a girl of the Gadia Lohar Rajput community, and Suraj, a haryanavi Jat Boy. It was released in March 1984 and became very successful, spurred on by a popular soundtrack. A sequel is in development and will be produced by Usha Sharma and directed by Nishant Prabhakar.

Maulaheri Jats is a family of Jats that derives its name from the village of Maulaheri, situated on the banks of the Hindon River, in the district of Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh. The Maulaheri Jats were the most prominent family of Jat landlords in western Uttar Pradesh. To quote The Imperial Gazetteer of India 1901- Gazetteer of Muzaffarnagar, "The chief Jat landholder in the district is Chaudhri Ghasiram, the son of Chaudhri Jawahir Singh of Maulaheri in tahsil Muzaffarnagar. He is the head of the great family of Maulaheri Jats, and owns twelve villages, paying a revenue of Rs. 9736. Of these six lie in Baghra, three in Muzaffarnagar, two in Khatauli and one in Bhuma Sambalhera."

The Battle of Jalalabad occurred in 1710 between the Mughal forces of Jalal Khan Rohilla and Sayyid Taj-ud-Din Barha, and the Sikh forces of Banda Singh Bahadur. Banda Singh Bahadur attacked the Mughal stronghold of Jalalabad. Jalal Khan and Sayyid Barha inflicted a crushing defeat on the Sikh army. The Mughal army was composed of a sizeable number of Muslim zamindars and shurafa, including many Sadat, who supported the Mughals in their bid to drive out the Sikhs. After the battle, Shamli and the surrounding areas were recaptured by the Mughals as Banda Singh Bahadur and his army retreated towards Punjab.
