Permude is a village (panchayat) located in the Mangalore taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, in Karnataka state, India. [2] [3] The name, "Permude", derived from Perda Mudde (Tulu Language), is a reference to the milk that was once locally produced in large quantities. [4] Permude is located approximately 360 kilometers from the state capital, Bangalore. [5] Nearby villages include Bajpe and Kinnigoli. [6] According to 2011 census information, Permude's location code or village code is 617478. The village comprises an area of 742.69 hectares. [7] Permude falls under the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ). [8] [9] [10]

Inhabitants

The Kudubis, who reside in Permude, are an Adivasi community. Their customs are similar to other tribes of central India. [11] In 2011 the Kudubi people opposed the MSEZ operating company's attempt to construct a boundary wall on land the company had acquired in Permude. [12] [13] The construction was opposed as a result of reported damage to farms and crops caused by the construction. [14]

Dakshina Kannada district is located in the state of Karnataka in India, with its headquarters in the coastal city of Mangalore. It is bordered by Udupi district to the north, Chikmagalur district to the northeast, Hassan district to the east, Kodagu to the southeast and Kasaragod district of Kerala to the south. Ullal Srinivasa Mallya was an Indian politician. He served an 18-year tenure as a member of Parliament, from 1946–1965. He played a key role in development of undivided Dakshina Kannada.

Bajpe is a locality in Mangalore city of Dakshina Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, now also known as Bajpe Town, India. It is around 18 km (11 mi) from the city of Mangalore. The Mangalore International Airport is located at Bajpe and was previously known as the Bajpe Aerodrome. City bus number 47 connects Bajpe to State Bank. There are a number of villages surrounding Bajpe, for which it serves as a hub. The nearby villages to which Bajpe serves as hub are Permude, Hosabettu, Kinnigoli, Kalamundkur and Kateel. Bajpe is derived from the Tulu word, Bija da Appe since it was famous for its agricultural market in olden days.

Talapady is a village near Mangaluru city in Ullal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka state in India. Talapady borders the states of Karnataka and Kerala. National Highway 66 passes through Talapady which is 14 km (9 mi) south of Mangalore city. The Karnataka-Kerala checkpost border is situated at Talapady. Another village Thalapady, Kasargod which is situated near Talapady in Manjeswar crossing Kerala border.

Kinnigoli is a major suburb in the outskirts of Mangaluru International Airport Tehsil. It is located approximately 32 km from Mangaluru International Airport City, 5 km from Kateel, 8 km from Mulki and 17 km from the Mangaluru International Airport.

The total expected GSDP of Karnataka in 2022–2023 is about $240 billion. Karnataka recorded the highest growth rates in terms of GDP and per capita GDP in the last decade compared to other states. Kaikamba also known as Gurupura Kaikamba is a suburban town of Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka State, west coast of India. Kaikamba lies between Moodabidri and Mangalore city in Dakshina Kannada district. This town lies on Mangalore – Moodabidri Highway National Highway 169. It is 8 km away from Bajpe, where Mangalore International Airport is located. Population of Kaikamba is about 15,325 as per 2009 census. Parts of Kaikamba are administered by Kandavara Panchayat and Ganjimutt Panchayat. Efforts are being made to include this town into Mangalore city corporation limits by the year 2015. The proposed KIADB Software export promotional park is 5 km away.

Banakal is a Malnad town in Mudigere Taluk, Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, India. This town is situated atop the Charmadi hills in the Western Ghats section. The Western Ghats is one amongst twenty-five identified hot spots for biodiversity conservation in the world. Banakal is surrounded by coffee estates and paddy fields and known for its pleasant weather throughout the year. Banakal town is the headquarters of Banakal Hobli.

Shree Durga Parameshwari temple is the family deity (Kuladevi) of many people who are the natives of undivided South Canara District.
