Pershall is a hamlet [1] and suburb of Eccleshall in the Borough of Stafford in Staffordshire, England. [2] It is located directly to the northwest of Eccleshall town centre and forms a rural part of the town.

History

The hamlet dates back to the Norman era, when the Pershall family settled in the area. It was given to Robert Fitz Gilbert de Corbeuil was granted a manor by Robert de Stafford. After being granted the manor, the Pershall family settled in the area. A notable member of the family was Sir John Pershall. [3] The manor was then passed on from the Pershall family to the Earl of Breadalbane and Holland through marriage to the last baronet of the family. After this time, the manor was passed into multiple new owners throughout its history. [4]

Afterwards, the hamlet became a township of Eccleshall and was placed under the Horsley Quarter of the town. Afterward, the hamlet became part of the town of Eccleshall due to its proximity to the town center and its ties to the town through recreation and local community amenities. The hamlet was also known for some time as "Pershale". [5]

This house dates back to the early 19th century and is built with red brick s. It was given Grade II listed status by Historic England in April 1980. [6] Additionally, there are also several other Grade II listed buildings within the farms vicinity which include:

Amenities

Preshall has no local amenities as it is a short distance from Eccleshall town centre. It is home to Eccleshall F.C., who play and are based at the nearby "Eccleshall Football Club" to the north of the hamlet. [11]

Transport

The nearest bus services are in Eccleshall. The nearest active rail stations are Stafford and Stone.
