Pete Julian (born May 11, 1971) is an American track and field coach for the Nike Union Athletics Club and former assistant coach of the Nike Oregon Project. Julian was once a professional distance runner representing the United States. [1]

As an athlete for Adidas, [2] Julian won a bronze medal in the 10,000m at the 1999 Pan American Games and was selected to represent the United States at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics in the same event, where he finished 22nd. He also competed at the 1997 and 1998 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. [1]

Julian began his coaching career working at Metro State [3] in 2005 before taking over the Washington State University cross country team in 2009, taking the team to the NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championship. [2] He later joined as an assistant coach to the Nike Oregon Project (NOP) in September, 2012. [4] In December, 2022, Julian founded the Union Athletics Club.

Julian is a multiple-time cancer survivor, having survived stomach cancer via an experimental treatment. [5]

Alberto Salazar is an American former track coach and long-distance runner. Born in Cuba, Salazar immigrated to the United States as a child with his family, living in Connecticut and then in Wayland, Massachusetts, where Salazar competed in track and field in high school. Salazar won the New York City Marathon three times in the early 1980s, and won the 1982 Boston Marathon in a race known as the "Duel in the Sun". He was the American 10,000 meters record holder with a time of 26:59.60 as well as the first non-African to break the 27-minute barrier in the 10,000 m.

The Nike Oregon Project was a group created by the American corporation Nike, established in Beaverton, Oregon in 2001. The team folded on October 10, 2019 after an investigation resulted in a four-year ban of longtime coach Alberto Salazar.

Alexa Efraimson is an American professional middle distance runner from Camas, Washington who competed for Nike. Efraimson is training and in graduate school to become a Registered Dietitian in 2022-24. During the 2014 indoor and outdoor season, as a junior, she set a pair of U.S. high-school records, breaking Mary Cain's 2013 mark in the indoor 3,000 meters (9:02.10) with a time of 9:00.16 and running 4:33.29 in the 1,600 meters to shave 0.53 seconds from Christine Babcock's 4:33.82, set in 2008.
