Peter Moatshe (born 27 August 1940) [1] is a retired South African politician and Christian minister. He represented the African National Congress in Parliament from 1994 to 2009. He was a member of the South African Council of Churches during apartheid. [2]
Moatshe was elected to the National Assembly in the 1994 general election,South Africa's first post-apartheid elections. [3] After a single term in the National Assembly,he was elected to the National Council of Provinces after the 1999 general election;he represented the North West Province and served two terms in his seat. [4] [5] During the third democratic Parliament,Moatshe chaired the Select Committee on Land and Environmental Affairs,in which capacity he argued for accelerating land reform in South Africa. [6]
The Republic of South Africa is a unitary parliamentary democratic republic. The President of South Africa serves both as head of state and as head of government. The President is elected by the National Assembly and must retain the confidence of the Assembly in order to remain in office. South Africans also elect provincial legislatures which govern each of the country's nine provinces.
Limpopo is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established as Northern Transvaal in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It was renamed Northern Province in 1999 and Limpopo in 2004. It is conterminous with the province of Limpopo. The constituency currently elects 19 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 2,608,460 registered electors.

Hendrik Jacobus "Hennie" Bekker is a South African politician who served in the Parliament of South Africa from 1987 to 2009,excepting a brief hiatus in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2004. He represented the National Party (NP) until the end of apartheid in 1994,after which he joined the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).
Letsau Nelson Diale was a South African politician and anti-apartheid activist from Limpopo. He joined the African National Congress (ANC) in 1956 and served eight years' imprisonment on Robben Island,from 1964 to 1972,for his work with Umkhonto we Sizwe. After the end of apartheid,he represented the ANC in the National Council of Provinces from 1994 to 1999 and in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2014.
Loretta Jacobus,formerly known as Loretta Bastardo-Ibanez,is a South African politician who served as Deputy Minister of Correctional Services from February 2006 to May 2009. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2013.
Adriaan Hermanus "Maans" Nel is a South African politician who served in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2009,representing the Northern Cape. He was a member of the National Party (NP) and New National Party (NNP) until March 2003,when he crossed the floor to the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Nyambeni George Ramaremisa is a South African politician and retired colonel from Limpopo. Madala Abram Mzizi,commonly spelled Abraham Mzizi,is a retired South African politician from Gauteng. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2003,in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2004,and in the National Council of Provinces from 2004 to 2009. He rose to prominence during apartheid as an IFP activist on the East Rand.
Geoffrey Bongumusa Bhengu is a South African politician from KwaZulu-Natal. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the national Parliament from May 1994 until August 2002,when moved to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature.

Andrew Fourie,commonly known as AndréFourie,is a retired South African politician who represented the National Party in the National Assembly during the first democratic Parliament from 1994 to 1999. He was elected in the 1994 general election and served on the Constitutional Committee that negotiated the 1996 South African Constitution. He was also the leader of the NP's Northern Province branch.
