The committees of the Parliament of South Africa are composed of a few members of Parliament from the National Assembly, or permanent delegates from the National Council of Provinces, or a combination of both appointed to deal with particular areas or issues; mostly consists of members of the National Assembly. The majority of parliamentary committees are portfolio committees, which oversee departments and are found in the National Assembly. The area of responsibility of these committees differs depending on whether they are committees of the National Assembly or the National Council of Provinces. [1]
The portfolio committees of the National Assembly deal with the examining of bills, departmental budget votes, and are responsible for oversight of the work their respective department does. [1]

Select committees are made up of permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces. Since the NCOP is much smaller than the National Assembly, select committees oversee the work of more than one department. [1]
A joint committee consists of members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. There is currently only one. [1]

Thandi Gloria Mpambo-Sibhukwana was a South African educator and legislator. She was a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from 2014 to 2019 and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2019 until her death in 2020. She was a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and a member of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development.
Dikgang Mathews Stock is a South African politician from the Northern Cape serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. Prior to his election to the National Assembly, he served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from 2014 to 2019. Stock is a member of the African National Congress.
Kenneth Leonard Jacobs is a South African politician and doctor currently serving as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health in the National Assembly of South Africa since 2021. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2019. Jacobs is a member of the African National Congress.

Prior to serving in the National Assembly, she served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Limpopo from 2009 to 2019. Dikgale is a member of the African National Congress.
Zola Mlenzana is a South African politician. A former member of the Congress of the People, he was elected as a Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces from the Eastern Cape in 2009. In 2014 he resigned from COPE and rejoined the African National Congress. Mlenzana was elected to the National Assembly in 2019.
Tyotyo Hubert James is a South African politician and trade union leader who is the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, Performance Monitoring & Evaluation and a Member of the National Assembly for the African National Congress (ANC). He had previously served as the first deputy president of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU).
Tshilidzi Bethuel Munyai is a South African politician who was elected as an African National Congress Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in 2019. In August 2021, Munyai served as the acting chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health. He resigned from Parliament in January 2023 and was subsequently sworn in as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
Tandi Mahambehlala is a South African politician who has served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism since 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC), she served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation from 2019 to 2021. Mahambehlala was Deputy Minister of Communications between 2017 and 2018. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
Nolitha Ntobongwana is a South African educator and politician. She currently serves as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure in the National Assembly. A member of the African National Congress, she has been a Member of Parliament since 2019. Ntobongwana had previously served in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.
Sakhumzi Stoffels Somyo is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, he was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. He was then appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance, Economic Development, Environment and Tourism portfolio. In 2018, he was fired as an MEC. Somyo was elected to Parliament in 2019. Soon after, he was elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Auditor General.
Boyce Makhosonke Maneli is a South African politician from Gauteng who has been Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress since 2019. He had previously served as the Executive Mayor of the West Rand District Municipality from 2016 to 2019 and as the Regional Chairperson of the ANC's West Rand Region from 2014 to 2018.
Sahlulele Luzipo is a South African politician who was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in the 2014 general election as a member of the African National Congress. He was then elected to chair the Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources. Following his re-election in 2019, Luzipo was elected chair of the newly established Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources and Energy.
Dikeledi Phillistus Magadzi is a South African African National Congress politician who has been Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation since 2021 and a Member of the National Assembly since 2014. She served as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport from 2014 to 2019 and as Deputy Minister of Transport from 2019 to 2021. Magadzi had previously served as a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in the Limpopo Provincial Government.
Madipoane Refiloe Moremadi Mothapo is a South African politician who has served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the African National Congress since 2021. She had previously served as an African National Congress MP from 2014 to 2019.
Machwene Rosina Semenya is a South African politician who has been the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements since 2021. A member of the African National Congress, she had previously served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from 2014 to 2019 and as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation from 2019 to 2021. Semenya has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
Fikile Devilliers Xasa is a South African politician currently serving as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs since 2021. He has been a Member of the National Assembly for the African National Congress since 2019.
Hildegard Sonja Boshoff is a South African politician who has served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Mpumalanga twice, from 2013 to 2014 and again since 2019. She served as a member of the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019. Boshoff is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
Freddie Adams is a South African retired politician. A former member of the New National Party, he joined the National Council of Provinces in 2003. He joined the African National Congress in 2005. After the 2014 election, Adams became a member of the National Assembly. Adams left Parliament at the 2019 election.
