The Standing Committee on Finance is a standing committee in the National Assembly of the Parliament of South Africa.

Contents

Mandate

The committee oversees the National Treasury and statutory entities, including the Accounting Standards Board, the Co-operative Banks Development Agency, the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), the Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers, the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), the Financial and Fiscal Commission, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, the Government Pensions Administration Agency (GPAA), the Government Technical Advisory Centre, the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA), the Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa, the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator, the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), the South African Special Risk Insurance Association (SASRIA), the South African Revenue Service (SARS), the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the Office of the Tax Ombud.

Membership

Members elected in the general election that was held on 8 May 2019, were appointed on 27 June. [1] Joe Maswanganyi of the African National Congress was elected chair of the committee on 2 July. [2] The committee's members are as follows: [3]

Nhlagongwe Patricia Mahlo is a South African politician. She is a current member of the National Assembly of South Africa representing the African National Congress. Mahlo had previously served as a member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature and as the Capricorn District Municipality's Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Strategic Executive Management Services.

Masefako Clarah Dikgale is a South African politician who has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly, she served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Limpopo from 2009 to 2019. Dikgale is a member of the African National Congress.

Itiseng Kenneth Morolong is a South African politician, who was elected as a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress in the 2019 national elections.

Sakhumzi Stoffels Somyo is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, he was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. He was then appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance, Economic Development, Environment and Tourism portfolio. In 2018, he was fired as an MEC. Somyo was elected to Parliament in 2019. Soon after, he was elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Auditor General.
