Peter David Trego (born 12 June 1981) is an English former cricketer who played primarily for Somerset. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler. He is a big hitting all-rounder who is capable of taking a one-day match away from opposing teams in the latter stages.
Born June 1981 in Weston-super-Mare,Somerset,Trego made his first-class debut for Somerset in April 2000 against Oxford Universities. He took two wickets in the match,but was not required to bat. [1] His first appearance in county cricket came two months later,playing a Norwich Union National League game against Sussex. One of the highlights of Trego's debut season came in the Scarborough Festival County Championship match against Yorkshire,where he made an unbeaten 27 batting in Somerset's first innings,followed by bowling figures of 4/84 in Yorkshire's first innings. Towards the end of the 2000 season,Trego was selected as part of the England under-19 cricket team to play the touring Sri Lanka national under-19 cricket team. He appeared in all three One Day Internationals (ODIs),scoring a half century and taking four wickets as he did so. He also played in the first Test,scoring 90,and taking 1/48 in the match. [3]
He is the leading runscorer in Hong Kong Sixes cricket (184 runs). [4] He also has the record for the highest individual score in Hong Kong Sixes(65*). [5] [6]
In July 2019,he was selected to play for the Rotterdam Rhinos in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. [7] [8] However,the following month the tournament was cancelled. [9]
Trego was released by Somerset at the end of the 2019 season and signed for Nottinghamshire on a two-year contract. [10]
He announced his retirement with immediate effect from cricket in September 2021. [11]
Trego also plays football as a goalkeeper to a reasonable level. During the 2004–05 season,he played for Margate,and became only the third goalkeeper in the club's history to score when he found the net from a free kick within his own half. [12] He has also played for Weston-super-Mare, [13] Clevedon Town [14] and Chippenham Town for whom he also scored while in goal in similar fashion to his previous one. [15] In March 2015,he joined Bath City on non-contract forms. [16]
In March 2016 it was announced that Trego would join the new television channel Insight TV as a presenter and narrator,after he retires from playing cricket. [17]
Trego has also presented on RobinsTV occasionally for Bristol City. [18]
Peter went to Wyvern Comprehensive School,now Hans Price Academy,in Weston-super-Mare.
He is married to Claire Trego,with whom he has three children. [19]
Samit Rohit Patel is an English cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler,he plays first-class cricket for Derbyshire County Cricket Club. Patel made his One Day International debut for England in August 2008,however was later dropped from the side after failing to meet fitness levels. After an absence of 2+1⁄2 years,he returned to the ODI side in 2011 and made his Twenty20 International debut,before becoming the 651st player to represent England at Test cricket by winning his first cap on the tour of Sri Lanka in 2012.
Varun Chopra is an English former cricketer who captained the English U-19 cricket team in series against Sri Lanka in 2005 and India in 2006. Chopra attended Ilford County High School and played for Ilford Cricket Club. In September 2021,Chopra announced his retirement from cricket.
Greg James Thompson is an Irish cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a leg-break bowler. He has played for Ireland since 2004,playing for the full squad before reverting to play for the Under-17,Under-19 and Under-23 teams respectively from 2005 onwards. He is at Royal School Armagh. He played for Lancashire during 2005,having played for Hampshire's Second XI in 2004. He represented Lancashire in the Second XI trophy during 2006.
Pieter Marinus Seelaar is a Dutch cricketer and a former captain of the national team. He is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spin bowler. Having played for the Netherlands at the Under-15,Under-17 and Under-19 levels,he made his senior debut in a C&G Trophy game against Warwickshire on 3 May 2005. He then played in the ICC Trophy later that year. He made his One Day International debut against Sri Lanka on 6 July 2006. Two years later,Seelaar made his Twenty20 International debut.
Richard Douglas Berrington is a Scottish cricketer. He played for Scotland in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka,and has since played first-class,One Day International,and List A cricket for Scotland. In June 2022,Berrington was named as the captain of the national team,after Kyle Coetzer stepped down from leading the side.
Anwar Ali(Urdu: انورعلی;born 25 November 1987) is a Pakistani cricketer who has represented his country in One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals. He was also part of the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup winning team,putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the final against India. Usman Khan Shinwari is a professional Pakistani cricketer. He is a left-arm fast bowler who plays for the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd cricket team (ZTBL) in Pakistan's first-class cricket circuit. He has also previously played for the Khan Research Laboratories cricket team (KRL). In December 2013,he bowled ZTBL to victory in the national T20 final with impressive figures of 5 wickets for 9 runs in four overs.
