The South West Africa People's Organisation,officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia,is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Founded in 1960,it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group.
Hage Gottfried Geingob was a Namibian politician who served as the third president of Namibia from 2015 until his death in February 2024. Geingob was the first Prime Minister of Namibia from 1990 to 2002,and served as prime minister again from 2012 to 2015. Between 2008 and 2012 Geingob served as Minister of Trade and Industry. In 2017,Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.
Erastus Amutenya Uutoni is a Namibian SWAPO politician who has served in the cabinet of Namibia since March 2010.
Teopolina Mushelenga is a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,she was first elected to the National Assembly of Namibia in the 1999 elections,and was subsequently reelected in 2004. After the election of Hifikepunye Pohamba that year,she was appointed deputy minister for home affairs and immigration. Prior to the 2009 general election,Mushelenga was placed 59th on SWAPO's electoral list of 72 candidates for the National Assembly. The top 54 SWAPO candidates on the list were elected,leaving her out of the National Assembly.

Royal Johan Kxao ǀUiǀoǀoo is a Namibian politician who is serving in the cabinet of Namibia as deputy Minister of Marginalised People since March 2015. He was a member of Parliament as a SWAPO backbencher between 2000 and 2010,and after that a special advisor in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Philemon Malima is a Namibian politician and diplomat who was the chief of intelligence service of Namibia Central Intelligence Service from 2015 to 2020. Malima has been a member of the Cabinet of Namibia since March 1990 and has served as minister responsible for various ministries since independence.
