Erastus Amutenya Uutoni (born 29 January 1961) is a Namibian SWAPO politician who has served in the cabinet of Namibia since March 2010.
Uutoni was born on 29 January 1961 in Omatando,near Ongwediva in Ovamboland of South West Africa (today the Oshana Region of northern Namibia). After graduating from secondary school he went into exile in Angola in 1979 and received military training at Lubango. In SWAPO's military wing,the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN),re rose to Commander of the First Mechanized Infantry Brigade. In 1982 Uutoni received training in photojournalism in Lusaka,Zambia,and thereafter worked as a photographer for Namibia Today until 1991. [1] [2]
After the Independence of Namibia Uutoni furthered his education abroad. He completed a certificate in political science from the Institute of Political Science in Moscow in 1991 and a diploma in office Management from the College of Professional Management in the United Kingdom in 1995. In 1996 Uutoni gained university admission and completed undergraduate degrees in police science and marketing from the Polytechnic of Namibia (today the Namibia University of Science and Technology) in Windhoek. Uutoni was elected mayor of Ongwediva in May 1998. [3] In 2009,Uutoni was selected for the SWAPO list for the National Assembly of Namibia for the 2009 general election. [4] He subsequently entered parliament in 2010 and immediately was appointed deputy Minister of Safety and Security in Hifikepunye Pohamba 's second cabinet. In 2015 he was moved to deputise the Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration. [5] In a cabinet reshuffle in 2018,Uutoni was promoted to minister and given the Sport,Youth,and National Service portfolio. [6] Uutoni served in other ministerial portfolios before that. He was appointed Minister of Urban and Rural Development in March 2020 in President Hage Geingob's second-term cabinet. [7]
Hidipo Livius Hamutenya was a Namibian politician. Veteran politician Hidipo Hamutenya died at 77 after a short illness. A long-time leading member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Hamutenya was a member of the Cabinet of Namibia from independence in 1990 to 2004,serving in several important ministerial portfolios. He was defeated in a bid for the party's presidential nomination in 2004 and left SWAPO to form an opposition group,the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP),in 2007. He was elected to the National Assembly of Namibia with RDP in the 2009 general election. He was forced to step down as RDP president on 28 February 2015 and rejoined SWAPO on 28 August 2015.
Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba is a Namibian politician who served as the second president of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 21 March 2015. He won the 2004 presidential election overwhelmingly as the candidate of SWAPOand was reelected in 2009. Pohamba was the president of SWAPO from 2007 until his retirement in 2015. He is a recipient of the Ibrahim Prize.
Jerry Lukiiko Ekandjo is a Namibian politician,former anti-apartheid activist and political prisoner. He is one of the founding members of the SWAPO Youth League and has been one of the most active internal leading members of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) during the liberation struggle. He spent eight years in prison on Robben Island after being charged for inciting violence in 1973.
The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST),formerly known as Polytechnic of Namibia,is a public university located in the city of Windhoek,Namibia. NUST was headed by the founding vice-chancellor Tjama Tjivikua until March 2019. After two acting appointments,Erold Naomab was appointed vice-chancellor in January 2021. The largely ceremonial role of chancellor of the university is held by Peter Katjavivi.

Alpheus ǀGou-ǃna ǃNaruseb is a Namibian politician who has served in the cabinet of Namibia in various portfolios. A member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),!Naruseb has served in the cabinet since 1997 and the National Assembly since 1995.
Immanuel Ngatjizeko was a Namibian politician and member of the ruling SWAPO Party. He held five ministerial portfolios from 2003 until his retirement in 2018.

Nandi-Ndaitwah is a member of SWAPO,Namibia's ruling party,and a long-time member of the National Assembly. In 2017,Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.

Sakeus Edward Twelityaamena "Sacky" Shanghala is a Namibian lawyer and politician who served as the Minister of Justice from 8 February 2018 until November 2019 when he was forced to resign in the wake of the Fishrot scandal. He previously also served as Attorney General of Namibia from 2015 to 2018. Shanghala is a former chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission which he chaired between 2010 and 2015.
