Peyarar Subash (Fragrance of Guava) [a] is a 2024 Bangladeshi psychological thriller film directed by Nurul Alam Atique and co-produced by Alpha-i Studios Ltd. and Chorki. [2] The film star Ahmed Rubel and Jaya Ahsan, along with Tariq Anam Khan, Sushoma Sarkar and Nur Imran Mithu. Ahmad Rubel died of illness on the way to the premiere show of the film the day before its release. [1]

Filming

The filming was begun in 2016. It was stopped in late 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh, with intermittent breaks after the start of work. After that it took another three years to complete the remaining post-production work. [3]

Release

Producer Shahriar Shakil confirmed with Ei Samay that the film has received the censor clarification from Bangladesh Film Censor Board in November 2023. [4] The film was released in 27 theatres on January 9, 2024. [5] The film premiered at the 45th Moscow International Film Festival on 26 April 2023. Although the film did not win an award at the festival, the film received a positive response there. [6] [7]

The series is a collection of five romantic stories produced by five different directors. It is named after the panch phoron spice blend, which means 'five spices'. The series has been well received and is currently on its second season.

Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni is a Bengali web series based on the thriller novel of the same name written by Bangladeshi writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin. The series has been released on West Bengal-based Bengali language OTT platform Hoichoi. It is directed by Indian director Srijit Mukherji. This is the second complete web series directed by Srijit Mukherji and his first work in Hoichoi. Initially, shooting was planned in both countries with the participation of several actors from Bangladesh and India, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shooting was done only in India. However, Azmeri Haque Badhon is the only Bangladeshi playing the central character "Mushkan Zuberi".

Alatchakra is a 2021 Bengali war–drama film, scripted and directed by Habibur Rahman. It was Rahman's debut feature film and is based on Ahmed Sofa's eponymous autobiographical novel. The film stars Jaya Ahsan, Ahmed Rubel, Mamunur Rashid, Azad Abul Kalam, Shilpi Sarker Apu, Nusrat Jahan Jerry, and Syed Mosharrof in the leading roles. Alatchakra was the first Bengali-language or Bangladeshi film to be released in 3D.

Tasnia Farin stars in her film debut, alongside Yash Rohan and Pantha Kanai. Farin's performance in the film won her the Best Actress award at Fajr Film Festival.
