The Christmas frigatebird, or Christmas Island frigatebird, is a seabird of the frigatebird family Fregatidae which is an endemic breeder to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.
Embolotherium is an extinct genus of brontothere that lived in Mongolia during the late Eocene epoch. It is most easily recognized by a large bony protuberance emanating from the anterior (front) of the skull. This resembles a battering ram, hence the name Embolotherium. The animal is known from about 12 skulls, several jaws, and a variety of other skeletal elements from the Ulan Gochu formation of Inner Mongolia and the Irgilin Dzo of Outer Mongolia.
Protoceratops is a genus of sheep-sized herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur, from the Upper Cretaceous Period of what is now Mongolia. It was a member of the Protoceratopsidae, a group of early horned dinosaurs. Unlike later ceratopsians, however, it was a much smaller creature that lacked well-developed horns and retained some basal traits not seen in later genera.
Sarcosaurus is a genus of basal neotheropod dinosaur, roughly 3.5 metres (11 ft) long. It lived during the Hettangian-Sinemurian stages of the Early Jurassic, about 199-194 million years ago. Sarcosaurus is one of the earliest known Jurassic theropods, and one of only a handful of theropod genera from this time period. Along with Dracoraptor hanigani it is one of the two described neotheropods from the lowermost Jurassic of the United Kingdom.
Andrew's hill rat is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. It is found only in Sulawesi and Buton Island, Indonesia.
Heinrich's hill rat is a species of rodent in the family Muridae, sometimes considered conspecific with Bunomys andrewsi. It is found only in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Andrewsi may refer to:
Campomanesia phaea is a species of plant in the family Myrtaceae. The plant is endemic to the Atlantic Forest ecoregion in southeastern Brazil. It is found in the states of Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo.
The little woolly mouse opossum is a nocturnal, arboreal and mainly solitary South American marsupial of the family Didelphidae. It is native to the western slopes of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, where it lives at altitudes from sea level to 1500 m. It primarily inhabits lowland rainforest and montane cloud forest, although it has been reported from dry forest in the southern end of its range. It was formerly assigned to the genus Micoureus, which was made a subgenus of Marmosa in 2009. Its conservation status is Vulnerable, due to habitat fragmentation and continuing loss of habitat via urbanization and conversion to agriculture.
Coccolepis is an extinct genus of prehistoric ray-finned fish that lived during the Mesozoic Era in what is now Asia, Australia, and Europe. The type species is Coccolepis bucklandi. The holotype of C. bucklandi, designated and described by Louis Agassiz, was thought to be lost but was later rediscovered in Neuchâtel.
Calotrophon andrewsi is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails.
Simiolus is an extinct genus of dendropithecid primates. It was described by Mary Leakey and Richard Leakey in 1987, and the type species is S. enjiessi, which existed during the Miocene of Kenya. The species epithet is a phonetic pun on the acronym NGS. A new species, S. andrewsi, also from the middle Miocene of Kenya, was described by Terry Harrison in 2010. In November 2018, scientists reported the discovery of the smallest known ape, Simiolus minutus, which weighed approximately eight pounds, and lived about 12.5 million years ago in Kenya in East Africa.
Heteropsis phaea is a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It is found in Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia. The habitat consists of open Brachystegia woodland.
Tetraopini is a tribe of longhorn beetles in the subfamily Lamiinae.
Phaea is a genus of longhorn beetles of the subfamily Lamiinae, containing the following species:
Phaea maccartyi is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Chemsak in 1999. It is known from Mexico.
Phaea wappesi is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Chemsak in 1999. It is known from Mexico.
Phaea juanitae is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Chemsak and Linsley in 1988. It is known from Mexico.
Thyridanthrax andrewsi is a species of bee fly in the family Bombyliidae.
Araneus andrewsi is a species of orb weaver in the spider family Araneidae. It is found in the United States.
