The Philippine Baseball League is the top baseball league in the Philippines sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association. [1]

It was established in 2019 succeeding the Baseball Philippines league which folded in 2012 and the Charmain's and Commissioners' Cup of the Philippine Sports Commission in 2012. [1] The league shares names with a defunct baseball league of the same name which was active in the 1980s.

2019 season

The first season and conference of the league commenced in January 2019. With six of the seven teams participating being collegiate teams also participating in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the first conference also served as a pre-season event to the UAAP Season 81 baseball tournament. IPPC is the only non-UAAP team which comprises national team players not playing in the UAAP. [1] Adamson University were the inaugural champions of the league defeating the De La Salle University in a one-game final of the league's first conference. Adamson managed to reach the knock-out stages despite finishing third with a 3–3 record in the elimination round. [2]

The second conference of the league took place after the conclusion of the UAAP Baseball Championship. [3] The second conference which started on May 18, 2019 is an Open Conference which featured 12 teams. The tournament is intended as a means to select players for the Philippine national baseball team that will play in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. [4]

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Premier Volleyball League

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams.

The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) was a commercial semi-professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league was composed of several commercial teams with several collegiate and provincial stars.

UE Red Warriors

UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque.

UST Growling Tigers

The UST Growling Tigers are the college athletic teams representing the University of Santo Tomas in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. They hold the most UAAP Overall Championships with 44 Seniors' Overall Championships and 21 Juniors' Overall Championships.

College basketball in the Philippines is fragmented; as of today there is no single governing body, with several leagues in Metro Manila and in the provinces. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) champions are considered to be the major champions, although several other leagues, claim their champions in equal standing with those of the UAAP and the NCAA.

The 2010 Philippine Collegiate Championship was the third tournament of the Philippine Collegiate Championship (PCC) for basketball in its current incarnation, and the eighth edition overall. The champion teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) and 3 other Metro Manila leagues took part in the final tournament dubbed as the "Sweet Sixteen". Other teams had to qualify in the zonal tournaments to round out the 16 teams in the tournament.

UAAP Season 74

UAAP Season 74 was the 2011–2012 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Ateneo de Manila University. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments were aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Studio 23 for the twelfth consecutive year. The opening ceremony was held on July 9, 2011 at the Marikina Sports Center.

UAAP Season 76 is the 2013–2014 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Adamson University with Fr. Maximino D. Rendon, C.M. as president. There were eight universities that competed in fifteen sports with poomsae, a form in the sport of taekwondo now recognized as a regular sport and included in the general championship tally.

Alyssa Caymo Valdez is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers. She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.

UAAP Season 78 was the 2015–2016 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). It opened on September 5, 2015, almost two months after the usual July opening of the league during previous seasons, due to the shift in the academic calendars of four member universities, i.e. Ateneo, La Salle, UP and UST. It was hosted by the University of the Philippines.

Julia Melissa "Jia" Morado is a Filipino volleyball player. She was a member of the Ateneo Lady Eagles and was team's captain in the UAAP Season 79 Women's Volleyball tournament. In 2018 Jia was also a member of the Philippines Women's National Volleyball Team.

UAAP Season 79

UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Association (PSSBC) is an amateur basketball tournament participated by different high school basketball teams from the NCAA, UAAP and Filipino-Chinese leagues. PSSBC's mission is to provide an avenue for young basketball players to further hone their skills before they will advanced in the collegiate level. The PSSBC was founded in December 2012, by the Fil-Chinese owners of different brands, sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and supported by Ever Bilena/Blackwater Elite, Rain or Shine, Freego, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, MEC Networks, Hapee Toothpaste, Dickies Underwear, and Ironcon Builders.

The UST Golden Tigresses women's volleyball is the intercollegiate women's volleyball program of the University of Santo Tomas. Formed in the same year of the sports' inception by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 1938, the Tigresses are the league's second winningest team with 16 titles behind Far Eastern University's 29 championships.

Benoit Mbala is a Cameroonian basketball player for the CSP Limoges of the LNB Pro A. He previously played for the De La Salle Green Archers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), Fuerza Regia of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, and the Chorale Roanne of LNB Pro B

UAAP Season 80 is the 2017–18 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season will be hosted by the Far Eastern University.

UAAP Season 81 is the 2018–19 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season is hosted by National University.

UAAP Season 82

UAAP Season 82 was the 2019–20 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season was hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University.
