Phrissomides (singular Phrissoma) is a genus of longhorn beetles of the subfamily Lamiinae. [1]

The term Phrissoma is formed from two Greek words, φρίσσω (phriso) which means "to be rough or uneven on the surface" [2] and σῶμα (soma) which means "body", and is applied to these insects because not only the thorax but the whole of the upper surface is covered with spikes. [3]

Latridiidae is a family of tiny, little-known beetles commonly called minute brown scavenger beetles or fungus beetles. Of the roughly 80 currently known species, 13 are native to Europe, 9 to North America, and some to northern Asia. The largest number of species is in South and Central America.
The Gibbs–Thomson effect, in common physics usage, refers to variations in vapor pressure or chemical potential across a curved surface or interface. The existence of a positive interfacial energy will increase the energy required to form small particles with high curvature, and these particles will exhibit an increased vapor pressure. More specifically, the Gibbs–Thomson effect refers to the observation that small crystals are in equilibrium with their liquid melt at a lower temperature than large crystals.
