Background

"Piece" was written and composed by singer-songwriter Minako Kawae. [2] The song first premiered on Aragaki's Tokyo FM radio show, "School of Lock!", January 21, 2009. [2] The single features a cover of Mongol800's hit song "Anata ni" and "Sparkle", written by Aragaki herself. [2]

Mongol800 band

Mongol800 is a Japanese three-piece punk rock band from Urasoe, Okinawa, Japan formed in 1998. When they were aged 19, they released their first album. In 2001, despite low commercial attention, they sold over two-million records from the album Message. Several years afterwards, they released more albums with just as much success.

"Piece" was released in three formats: standard edition, limited edition A, which has an illustration cover drawn by Aragaki herself and limited edition B, which has an illustration cover drawn by Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose, who also directed an animated music video for the song. [3]
