"Piece" was written and composed by singer-songwriter Minako Kawae. [2] The song first premiered on Aragaki's Tokyo FM radio show, "School of Lock!", January 21, 2009. [2] The single features a cover of Mongol800's hit song "Anata ni" and "Sparkle", written by Aragaki herself. [2]

Mongol800 is a Japanese three-piece punk rock band from Urasoe, Okinawa, Japan formed in 1998. When they were aged 19, they released their first album. In 2001, despite low commercial attention, they sold over two-million records from the album Message. Several years afterwards, they released more albums with just as much success.
"Piece" was released in three formats: standard edition, limited edition A, which has an illustration cover drawn by Aragaki herself and limited edition B, which has an illustration cover drawn by Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose, who also directed an animated music video for the song. [3]

Rina Aiuchi is a Japanese pop singer. songwriter, and businesswoman. Born in Higashiōsaka, Japan, she won the first season of the audition Super Starlight Contest, winning a recording contract with Giza Studio. Her eurobeat-sounding debut album, Be Happy (2001) was certified gold in Japan and spawned a top-five song, "Koi wa Thrill, Shock, Suspense", which served as the theme song to the Japanese anime television series Case Closed and became viral hit. Aiuchi's second album Power of Words became her best-selling album, selling over 419,000 copies nationwide and certificated platinum in Japan.
Lee Ayumi, also known by her Japanese alias Ayumi Itō, professionally known as Ahyoomee, Iconiq or Yumi Itō, is a South Korean singer and actress currently based in Japan and South Korea.
