Pirbright Camp is a British Army installation in Pirbright, Surrey. It houses the Army Training Centre Pirbright, and a number of other units.
In 1875, the War Office acquired 3,070 acres (12.4 km2) of Pirbright's heath which is the southern end of the north-south range of sand hills in Surrey heath, known as Chobham Ridges. It established rifle ranges, a training depot and an 'encampment' for the Brigade of Guards here. [1] Many of the current buildings date from the 1950s, with significant expansion in the 1970s. [2]
In April 2021, following the Death of the Duke of Edinburgh, members from across the armed forces, including: [3] the Household Cavalry, Queen's Royal Hussars, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Welsh Guards, The Highlanders, [4] [5] Royal Gurkha Rifles, and The Rifles; along with personnel from the Royal Marines, Royal Navy, and Queen's Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force all took part in training at Brunswick Lines in preparation for his funeral. Pirbright was the filming location for British Army Girls, a three-part television documentary first shown on Channel 4 in April 2016. [12] [13]

Aldershot Garrison, also known as Aldershot Military Town, is a major garrison in South East England, between Aldershot and Farnborough in Hampshire. Established in 1854, Aldershot is the home of the British Army. The garrison was established when the War Department bought a large area of land near the village of Aldershot, with the objective of establishing a permanent training camp for the Army. Over time, this camp grew into a military town and continues to be used by the Army to the present day. It is home to the headquarters of the Army's Regional Command, and it is also the administrative base for the 101st Logistic Brigade. The garrison plays host to around 70 military units and organisations.
The regimental depot of a regiment is its home base for recruiting and training. It is also where soldiers and officers awaiting discharge or postings are based and where injured soldiers return to full fitness after discharge from hospital before returning to full duty. Normally, a variety of regimental stores will also be kept at the depot. The regimental depot is not the same as the regimental headquarters, though in practice the two will often be co-located in the same place.
The structure of the British Army of the United Kingdom (UK) will be reorganised in 2022 with the Future Soldier reform. The British Army is commanded by the Chief of the General Staff (CGS), with Army Headquarters which is located in Andover, Hampshire. A list of Honours was released on 10 June 2021, and made appointments and promotions within the Royal Victorian Order, as well as awards of the Royal Victorian Medal, on the demise of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 2021. Recipients included former members of the Household of the Duke of Edinburgh and members of the Bearer Party at the funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The list was released on 10 June 2021, the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, and the longest-serving royal consort in world history, died in Windsor Castle at the age of 99 on the morning of 9 April 2021, two months before his 100th birthday. The official statement from the royal family said he "died peacefully". His funeral took place on 17 April. The death certificate, certified by Sir Huw Thomas, head of the Royal Medical Household, stated the cause of death as "old age".
Future Soldier is a reform of the British Army resulting from the Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy published in March 2021. The aim of the reform is to create a more lethal, agile and expeditionary force, able to fight and win wars and to operate in the grey-zone between peace and war. Future Soldier was published on 25 November 2021 and deals with the organizational changes of the British Army, with changes to personnel and equipment were set out in the Defence in a Competitive Age paper published on 22 March 2021.
